Dynamic Elegance
No airplane personifies the epithet “Dynamic Elegance” more aptly than does the Piper Comanche 250.
The unique conjoining of many superlative aeronautic and aesthetic qualities marks this very special aeroplane. It has been said that if an aeroplane looks right, it will fly right. In this it is supposed that the eye’s natural ability to sense the pleasing proportion and intrinsic efficiency of a design is a reliable predictor of similarly excellent aeronautic performance. The Comanche 250 proves that this adage may be relied upon and bears validity. The Piper Comanche takes its well-deserved place on an illustrious list of aeroplanes which are both so very pleasing to the eyes and which are equally capable of superior performance.
There are many including this writer the most beautiful of all General Aviation (GA) aircraft, if not the most beautiful. From any angle the Comanche treats the eyes. This is what provides its elegance. Its superlative performance is a matter of record and this provides its dynamism. These two great and rare qualities, beauty and performance would be enough in and of themselves to place the Comanche at the pinnacle of GA aircraft, but the Comanche possesses an additional quality, one which, after all, may be its most endearing. Of all of the high performance GA aircraft the Comanche is arguably the least demanding of the relatively low- time pilot. That this is so is not an accident or a fortuitous circumstance – William Piper specifically intended that it should be so. The Comanche’s forgiving flight characteristics and its refusal to turn and bite an unwary pilot without plenty of warning, its relatively gentle stall, easy handling at low airspeeds and its overall delightful handling at all airspeeds are confidence boosters for its fortunate pilots.
The Comanche is also particularly exceptional in that it does not achieve its excellent aerodynamic performance at the expense of interior room and comfort; it is among the roomiest and most comfortable of “high performance” aeroplanes. Neither does the Comanche sacrifice useful load nor its generous weight and balance envelope at the altar of high airspeed. It is a highly capable heavy load hauler and its capacious useful load as well as its ability to safely carry baggage and substantial rear seat passengers without straining its aft load limits is far better than its closest competitors of equal horsepower – including and specifically the V-tail Beechcraft Bonanza. Perhaps most importantly, the Comanche does not achieve its performance by the intrinsic design features which compromise stable flying characteristics. Its light airframe weight and its generous, high aspect-ratio, laminar flow wing provides the Comanche with high efficiency as well as a low wing loading.
Accordingly, Comanche pilots and owners are particularly loyal and satisfied, and for good reason; the Comanche delivers extraordinarily dynamic performance while embodying the highest degree of aeronautic elegance.
So, how is it that all of these superlative qualities came together in this aeroplane? Well, therein lays the Comanche’s tale, one redolent of aeronautic expertise, prescience, confidence and also of a fierce competitive spirit. As it happens, it all began a little more than ten years before the first Comanche ever flew.

The A2A Comanche for MSFS is amazing in every way possible.

Again, top notch stuff! For GA, nobody does better than A2A. And they’re old school military aircraft are nothing to sneeze at. These guys are awesome!

One of my most favourite sims to fly. Really amazing performance and you can do maneuvers like spins and such. I’ve never flown it irl but it feels quite right. The free update to the rain on the canopy was the icing on the cake 🙂 Thanks A2A

Wow. I would have never considered flying this plane let alone buying it for simulation, but I’m sure glad I did. After watching the promotional video, I thought I would give it a shot and I have to say, I have never wanted more to fly the real plane as much as this one. It seemed intimidating and being an older plane, I wasn’t sure I would like it. A2A has opened my eyes with this plane. The older avionics are just like the ones I’ve seen in the actual planes. The auto pilot is nothing like any I’ve used in the past 30 years but I actually found it so much easier to use. This A2A plane is so smooth and much easier to handle and learn than I originally thought. After flying this A2A plane, I am actually considering purchasing the real one. That’s how good it is.
Happy Flying!!!

A2A fan for years, even though until this aircraft I only had their C172. It’s a compliment actually because the C172 was more than enough for me and didn’t want to fly anything else. I have all the PMDG aircraft and several from many other developers but the C172 with walk around and amount of both detail and modeling really makes all their aircraft a simulation in a simulation. The plugs, true carb icing, etc. Having this Comanche now I am amazed my C172 is getting a break. At first I thought their was a major flaw in modeling it’s speed until I heard from actual Comanche pilots. Slowing down is much more of a chore than any other GA aircraft I have. This is also my first Piper aircraft and their autopilot was quite the experience in getting used to. Still am. Not bad, just very different than the others I’m used to. If you already own the C172, make this your next purchase!

My first and my favorite GA offering from A2A. This plane is like a sports car in comparison to the others. It is very slick and easy to handle but can be challenge to slow down sometimes. I love the avionics and STEC 30 autopilot in this configuration and how they are modeled in this plane. In particular I like that the STEC is a little more hands on than the Bendix systems on the 182/172. Of course the Comanche has the regular set details that all the GA accu-sim models have in common including the walk around inspection. But by far my favorite thing to do with the Comanche is to be a horrible “owner” and just ignore the walk around and let things happen. Failures related to neglect are beautifully implemented ensuring not every flight goes exactly as planned by giving you an occasional unexpected challenge to test your emergency responses. This plane also has a decent amount of get up and go so getting from one place to the other can happen at a decent pace. Hope you enjoy it as well!

As a warbird fanatic I took quite some time to purchase my first GA. I chose the Comanche 250 as my first GA and have been extremely happy. I particularly like the interior and the way the panel is layed out. The lighting is fantastic with several options available for lighting your panel and gauges for those evening and night flights. Gauges, radios and NAVaids are positioned for easy access and flow of tasks.
Short hops around my PNW area are super enjoyable. With enough power to land and depart from smaller airfields and yet have an impressive cruise speed and range I find this GA a great choice. A2A has done a fantastic job of creating an immersive model.
Landing this aircraft will always be a challenge. Even after many hours at the yoke this plane will bring humility to you just when you think you have it figured out.
NOTE, keep a sharp eye on the carburetors when conditions are prime for icing! I’ve lost this aircraft due to structure icing so pay close attention to the current & expected weather along your route.

It is not very often I am unable to find even the smallest of details to fault any product, the A2A Comanche 250 for FSX/P3D is however one of the very few to achieve this! Absolute top-marks for this one, the fact that Scott Gentile of owns a Comanche no doubt helped immensely during development and fine tuning every last detail.
Any kind of simulation has reached its goal when the experience is one of tangible immersion with the simulated product; this is offered here not only visually and audibly but also from the very believable flight characteristics, the only things missing are smells and sense of touch.
If you are new to A2A products and/or are on the fence about investing in this as your next A2A purchase I can only recommend the Comanche, I would be surprised if anyone was disappointed.
