Any plan to support Brunner FFB yokes or pedals ?

Post by Billabos »

Hello,

firstly, I just want to say what a joy to operate the Comanche is, well done A2A.

As alluded in the title, I was just wondering if you guys are aware of the issues us Brunner and butt shaker users are having currently with the Comanche ? It looks like there's no engine data coming out from Simconnect.

Thanks!
Bill.

Hello guys,

Yes, we are aware and we'll look into it for an update. Maybe not the first one as there a few other items slightly higher up our current priority list, but it's on our radar for sure.

Thanks,

Yeah, I can imagine, thanks for looking into it though.

All the Accusim-planes are in my hangar, but they aren't sitting long enough for their engines to cool much before next flight!

Glad to hear you guys are considering it. If you need a yoke for testing I live right over the Connecticut border and would be willing to loan my CLS-E.

I posted my findings with my Brunner CLS-E in this topic: viewtopic.php?f=151&t=74731#p566999

No need to repeat myself, so I'm following this topic as well.

Scott.

I think it could help them sell some hardware if there was solid integration with accusim 2.0 Even just using my spring joystick this plane is amazing!

As soon as Brunner gets back to us (hopefully they do) I'll update everyone. If you guys reached out to them it may move things along better.

The Brunner client (CLS2Sim) is pretty simplistic. For the Brunner yokes, it just manipulates the aileron and elevator variables via SimConnect. For the feedback effects, it reads a set of SimConnect variables and determines whether the aircraft is airborne or not, how fast it's flying and how much thrust it produces, the state of the AP etc.
If I remember correctly (I looked at the SimConnect traffic when debugging an issue with CLS2Sim a while ago), the thrust mainly controls how the elevator affects the yoke (Effects / Yoke/Rudder is affected by prop wash).

I suspect the fix necessary for FSE/OnAir, ie. syncing SimConnect variables for MSFS engine state with the Accu-Sim state, is related to the fix for the Brunner yokes. Same fix, just a different variable.

(When I said "simplistic", I meant that, in a perfect world, the sim would provide forces based on physics, but MSFS doesn't, so CLS2Sim takes what the sim offers and leaves it to the user to set up a profile for every plane that turns that data into believable behavior of the yoke, stick, or rudder, for example with curves that set the "resistance" of the control device based on the speed of the aircraft.)
