I have set up the Redux lights on my 747 as per this configuration
[LIGHTS]
light.0 = 3, -225.90, 0.30, 4.72, fx_navwhih, //Position Aft
light.1 = 3, -225.90,-0.30, 4.72, fx_navwhih, //Position Aft
light.2 = 1, -33.596, 0.00, 14.868, fx_shockwave_beacon_rotating_red,//Beacon Top
light.3 = 1, -86.149, 0.00,-11.735, fx_shockwave_beacon_rotating_red,//Beacon Bottom
light.4 = 9, -210.149, 8.00, 35.117, fx_pmdg744_logo, //Logo Right
light.5 = 9, -210.149, -8.00, 35.117, fx_pmdg744_logo, //Logo Left
light.6 = 8, -146.000, 97.50, -1.65, fx_shockwave_navgre,//Wing Right
light.7 = 8, -146.000, -97.50, -1.80, fx_shockwave_navred,//Wing Right Left
light.8 = 5,-21.7, -1.0,-11.5,fx_Shockwave_landing_light_low//Shockwave
light.9 = 5,-21.7, +1.0,-11.5,fx_Shockwave_landing_light_low//Shockwave
light.10 = 5,-77.0,+20.5,-3.7,fx_Shockwave_landing_light_low//Shockwave
light.11 = 5,-76.0,+18.0,-3.7,fx_Shockwave_landing_light_low//Shockwave
light.12 = 5,-76.0,-18.0,-3.7,fx_Shockwave_landing_light_low//Shockwave
light.13 = 5,-77.0,-20.5,-3.7,fx_Shockwave_landing_light_low//Shockwave
light.14 = 2, -147.500, 99.00, -1.630, fx_shockwave_strobe_l,//Wing Right
light.15 = 2, -147.500,-99.00, -1.800, fx_shockwave_strobe_l,//Wing Left
light.17 = 2, -225.52, 0.00, 4.20, fx_shockwave_strobe_l,//Strobe Aft
They look great whilst stationary but as the aircraft accelerates they move down towards the ground and stay there in flight on landing and stopping they revert to their original position.
PMDG 747-400
the PMDG 744 uses wing flex, so your nav lights etc will not display correctly. I think the lights are in the model so one way of possibly correcting it is to find the original PMDG effects and replace those files with renamed shockwave ones (renamed to mimic originals i mean).
think that's right...

I have done the renaming in the effects folder and it works almost perfectly, however, the intensity is too low. Any way to fix this. I made a post in the pmdg forums and am waiting on a reply.
If anyone here knows how to modify the aircraft.cfg to make the lights more intense, please let me know.

Thanks for the response Sev, have tried changing the effects files and although they appear to work the strobes on the wings are very weak as are the nav lights, I have even tried renaming all the PMDG files in the effects folder to see if the lights are generated somewhere else and sure enough, the wing strobes, nav lights and landing lights are still showing, the only ones which are effected by the inputs in the aircraft config are the landing lights, and rear nav and strobe, the others look like the PMDG lights, which as I have changed the files to the Shockwave ones in the effects folder doen'nt make sense.

Thanks for the response CaptainG34, it's a mystery this one, even if you remove all the PMDG entries completly from the effects folder the landing lights still operate and so do the wing nav lights, let's just hope you get an answer from the PMDG forum.CaptainG34 wrote:I have done the renaming in the effects folder and it works almost perfectly, however, the intensity is too low. Hi Goran, looks like you have come to the same conclusion as me, the nav and wing strobes definightly are not in the effects or aircraft config folders or anywhere else that I can detect so, they must be programmed someway into the model itself, as you say it looks like this is a non starter. LesCaptainG34 wrote:The development guys at PMDG will not support mods of any kind.
Looks like we're stuck with the normal PMDG lights.
Renaming the shockwave lights to the PMDG lights does not fix the lighting. I see a ton of programming of lights to get this to work properly.

PMDG appears to control their taxi lights a bit different than the other developers. This is typical of an innovative developer, and we certainly don't hold this against them.
For the redux package, we made custom lights for the stock Microsoft 747. This means a dual-flare nose, left wing, and right wing lights. The flares are offset to match the taper of the leading edge of the wing. These lights seem to drop right into the PMDG well, and they look quite nice.
The strobes and nav lights on the wing tips are installed in the PMDG model, so these entries should not be in the aircraft.cfg - leave these stock. The Shockwave Redux lighting system adds a nice flare to all lights when viewed from a distance, so even stock lights will receive some benefit.
I just updated the FS9 entry in the database.

Thanks for that Scott at least we can get some benefit from the lights, I did get the landing lights blinking once the gear was stowed so you've answered that one as well.

Been a few days since I was in here. Just read up on the posts re: the PMDG 747.
Will try the new .cfg for the lights and see how we go.
It's a shame they don't support mods but it makes me wonder why they are working with the FS2Crew guys and to me, that's a mod.
Maybe shockwave admins should try to contact them and see if they can come to some kind of arrangement to help us with these light issues.
I still harbour no ill feelings towards them because of this as they created probably the best FS add on for FS9 and FSX.

I had the same problem with the PMDG747 and the left landing light. After a few hours of banging my head against the wall I noticed that the entry for the left landing light is missing a "/" where the comment starts... sure enough that fixed it.
Replace the line as indicated below: (note the extra / before the L)
light.8 = 5,-76.0,-19.0,-3.7, fx_shockwave_landing_light_747_lw //Landing left wing
I've noticed the database page also has it wrong, maybe a mod wants to change it there....
