P-38

Any chance that you guys are going to add a P-38 to your outstanding hangar?

Hmmmm...I was kinda hoping that they'll eventually touch on the deeply neglected Navy aircrafts like the F4F, F6F, Devastator, Helldiver (SBC2), and the Dauntless...

...or maybe a new Mitchell or Maurder...or Stuka :)

...actually, anythings good for me!

Oh what I wouldn't give to have a WOP Corsair. That would be incredible, especially if it was done with the same detail (or better) than the amazing P-40.

On that note I made the mistake of buying the Aeroplane Heaven P-38. I have been writing those damn guys nonstop to fix their models! Even simple stuff like fully modeling the ailerons and keeping the slip turn ball INSIDE the gauge seems to be beyond them. I have waited for over 6 months and they still can't get this crap straightened out. Every time they make a patch, they break something else. Don't waste your money, please!

I made the same mistake with the Aeroplane Heaven P-38, but the SkyUnlimited P-38 is of better quality.

What are the problems with the P-38's?
Is it justa case of 'not quite as good as shockwave', or are there significant issues?

Was thinking of getting the P-38, but am a little concerned now.
Whereabouts is the support forum mentioned earlier?

Cheers

Aeroplane Heaven does not contain a forum on their website, and JustFlight doesn't have a dedicated one.

First impressions with the aircraft are fine, but there are significant flaws. I'll list a few.

1) Questionable flight dynamics
2) Dive brakes on certain models also open the canopy
3) Attitude coordinator in certain positions (noticable with TrackIR) can be seen through.
4) Slip turn coordinator either moves in the wrong direction and/or the ball actually moves OUT of the gauge
5) Eyepoint is significantly off. Look at the eyepoint in the cockpit and compare that to the eyepoint of the pilot in the external view.
6) Little consistency with the canopy buttons. Hard to explain. What works on one plane doesn't work on another.
7) Bad documentation on how to access said features such as canopy, etc.
8) I still can't get the guns to fire like they show in their screenshots.

The other issues they seem to have fixed, but to be honest I cannot really comment further as I just don't fly this plane enough to know. This was probably the biggest disappointment I have thus had purchasing an addon. If they screw up on these little things, how are they supposed to get the important and bigger ones right? I just don't trust the authenticity of this aircraft.

By the way, this is not me promoting Shockwave products by slandering theirs. This is me insuring you guys don't waste your money like I did.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I liked the AH P-38's. I bought the megapack and loved to fly them around. I don't have TrackIR but I haven't noticed a couple of the problems you talked about. I haven't flown them in a while either, since about the time fsx came out. I thought they were worth the money for sure. I also have the SU P-38's, and like the AH planes better. They just look better. lol

I have the SkyUnlimited P-38 and like it fine. As for a Corsair a F2G I would go for. Like the power of a P&W 4360. Another Navy aircraft I long for is the F7F & F8F.

I came up here today to inquire about a P 38 and an ME262. I see that someone beat me to it.

I have eight variations of the P38 already. Bought them on two CDs. They're pretty much the same quality as Shockwave's models.
