Suddenly no cockpit sound in my Comanche 250
Suddenly no cockpit sound in my Comanche 250
Sound loss in cockpit - everything else is fine (and other aircraft are OK). Have had no trouble for years, but now no sound in cockpit. Exterior view sound is OK. Have I hit some button inadvertently?
Still using Win 10 and FSX, but good computer. -=dcp=-

Re: Suddenly no cockpit sound in my Comanche 250
Hello again dcp!
There is a volume control at bottom left of the Shift 3 'controls' window, so this is the first thing I'd suggest you check.
Also, it's worth keeping in mind that by default, the Accu-Sim sounds will play through your default Windows audio device. This may be different to the device you use for playback in FSX.
Thanks,
Nick

There you are. Again. And, yeah, I'm still in Win 10 and my old beloved Comanche. But...but...in another month I expect to upgrade to FS 2024 (yeah they, MS, have made some upgrades that make it worthwhile - especially landscape) and will download your new Comanche...will face hard competition with my original, but I suspect I will survive.
Anyway...enough. I will follow through. Dunno where the controls are that you mention, but will explore.
I believe that I use the same audio for FSX as with everything else. Will also look into it.
Good to talk to you again - and am always impressed with the A2A response.
Look forward to learning to fly the new Comanche.
Yours with appreciation,
-=dcp=-

No luck. Loaded the Comanche for just a local fly around the flagpole, but no sound. Did locate the Sound button, L of shift 3, and no change - Still silence in the cockpit. Great if flying with a talking parrot, but no engine sound to monitor.
Cannot figure out what I must have done. Obviously, my fault. But, hey, at 90 what do you expect? Faults that exceed the Rocky Mountains. Not sure what is next. Small print.....help.

Re: Suddenly no cockpit sound in my Comanche 250
Yes, it's nice to hear from you again dcp, and it's also good to learn you're making the leap to MSFS 2024. I think you'll find the differences to FSX are pretty remarkable.
As for the sound in the FSX version of the Comanche, it's a while since I've had to troubleshoot this, and I'm away from home at present without access to my own installation of the sim, so have to rely on memory a bit, plus reading my own posts from a few years back!
However, you should be able to check the audio playback option via the 'Accusim Sound Menu' under add-ons in the top menu. Before you try this though, please can you check to see if there's an "audio.dat" file in the "Documents\A2A" folder, and if there is, simply try deleting it, then restart the sim and check the cockpit sound again.
Thanks,
Nick

Take care and have a good trip. Will look into the Accusim Sound Menu addons, and see what I get.
I recall the time I sold a small program on the Internet and had to do the "support" dance. Not a fun experience - so I can understand.
No frantic situation here. Relax and enjoy...unless it's business....then...well, been there and ----

Actually can't find "MyDocuments/A2A" anywhere on my computer and so cannot "delete audio.dat" And also cannot find any "Accusim Sound Menu". Presume it's hiding somewhere.
Sorry.
Get back to me after you get back home.
No emergency.

Re: Suddenly no cockpit sound in my Comanche 250
It's a work trip dcp (I work away at sea) though there's still the odd opportunity for relaxation.
Regarding that "MyDocuments/A2A" folder, you should have a folder simply called "A2A" in your main Windows "Documents" folder. This is where the Accu-Sim software stores various .dat and config files. And it's possible you'll find an "audio.dat" file in there.
Cheers,
Nick

I just sent a long reply, but it was blocked by some third party deciding something was wrong. Have no idea why.
Let's wait until you get back and explore further.
Just lemme know when it works for you.

Nick:
All I find in my A2A/Documents/Accusim.dat file is the following: @e@ Otherwise nada.
Still no cockpit sounds with the Comanche. Cockpit sounds are present, however, with the A2A Beechcraft V35B Bonanza. So, I presume the problem doesn't lie with the Accusim.dat file If, as I would expect, both A2A aircraft programs access the same Accusim file. Maybe it needs an uninstall and reinstallation of the Comanche? Not sure I can still find its install program on my C: drive after all these years. Will look.
Re: FS 2020 - have waited to let the bugs get solved and the new version released this month has greatly improved scenery graphics. Now's the time.
Happy Thanksgiving - no emergency in answering... Age grants patience.

Re: Suddenly no cockpit sound in my Comanche 250
Hi dcp - happy thanksgiving to you too!
We can certainly try a reinstall, but first it's probably worth getting rid of the folder which saves the persistent state of the Comanche in case a file here has become corrupted.
However, rather than deleting the folder, I'd recommend you just move it to another location on your PC, so it can be restored if necessary. The folder you need to move is this one:
C:\Users\[YourUserName]\Documents\A2A\FSX\Comanche250
The exact path may vary a bit depending on your system drive letter, but from your comment above, sounds like it's the C: drive. If you copy and paste the bold row of text below directly into the address bar in Windows file explorer, it should take you directly to the .../A2A/FSX folder containing the "Comanche250" folder which I'd like you to remove.
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\A2A\FSX
This path may be different if your Documents folder is synced using Microsoft OneDrive though, so please let us know if it is.
Thanks,
Nick

Did the removal.
Reloaded FS and the Comanche - no cockpit sound: yes, for external view. etc.
Next step?
Maybe we break for the Holiday? I have some cooking to do tomorrow for incoming relatives, and I'm sure you have commitments too.
Our incoming people will be here for about a week. One of which has serious Parkinsonism and will take some care.
Mebbe we get together here in about 10 days when we are all tanked-out on guests? I'll mark the calendar for around Dec 1, if that's OK?
Thoughts?

Re: Suddenly no cockpit sound in my Comanche 250
Thanks for the update dcp.
Just drop me another line whenever you're ready to proceed and we'll see what we can do (I'm in the UK and Thanksgiving isn't really a thing here). It's a while since I've had to do any serious troubleshooting for Accu-Sim in FSX, but a clean reinstall of the Comanche might not be a bad idea. Alternatively, you may decide you're ready to make that jump to FS 2024. Loading into the new simulator seems pretty stable now and the Comanche works well, but if you plan to wait for all the bugs in the base sim to be fixed, I'm afraid the wait could be a long one.
Anyway, enjoy the holiday season!
Cheers,
Nick
