Constant vertical pitch
Constant vertical pitch
How to trim the elevator pitch? I have to constantly push the yoke as when released to neutral the plane pitch straight up. Using honeycomb alpha but the pirch issue are problem on my warthog stick too… Not an issue on my other planes (c152/172; Warrior II)

Re: Constant vertical pitch
Hello, the trim should be working just like in any other aircraft, using keys or joystick axis.
The trim handle is located on the ceiling, check if it moves when you activate the trim, and also observe if it does not move uncommanded by itself. That would indicate some controls conflict.

Re: Constant vertical pitch
a lot of strange things happening with this plane. On mine, I can't trim the plane to neutral, constant pitch up and therefore have to constantly push the yoke forward. RPM is constantly at 2500, only when I cut the throttle completely, the engine responds to input. just before touchdown the control goes to normal trim, and I then have to immediately react by pulling the yoke. Also the sound is strange...it only becomes ok when takeoff is well underway.

are all of these known bugs?

Re: Constant vertical pitch
I take off in Neutral and land in Neutral but for cruise I trim the indicator down to the 1st line. During takeoff with it set at Neutral I get a nice Vy climb and when landing, I sometimes need to trim just above Neutral when the plane is in dirty configuration. Hope this helps.

Re: Constant vertical pitch
Hello Rolf65,
No, the issues you describe certainly aren't known bugs. Sounds like there may be some sort of control conflict present on your system. Are you using just the hat switch on your joystick for pitch trim, or do you have any other axes or buttons assigned to it?
Please can you check the trim crank moves smoothly in response to your control inputs as Michal suggested, and also that it isn't making movements in flight without any pitch inputs from your hardware.
Control conflicts could also explain the throttle issue you describe. Are your left and right throttle levers assigned to engine 1 and engine 2 respectively, and if so, are you moving them in unison?
Thanks,
Nick

I will try unplug my warthog and just use the Alpha. Agree that there my be an conflict, but there are no issue flying cassnas or the warrior II.Nick - A2A wrote: ↑04 Nov 2024, 13:44 Hello Rolf65,

Re: Constant vertical pitch
Okay, let us know how you get on, and if problems with trim persist, please let us know exactly which switches/axes you have assigned to it.
Also bear in mind the Comanche has a constant speed prop unlike the fixed pitch prop in the 152, 172 and Warrior you mention, so you adjust engine power with a combination of throttle and propeller control (as well as mixture). For example, I use a profile which assigns one of the throttle axes of my Warthog for throttle and the other for the prop lever.

Found no conflict. Unplugged the warthog and tried different usb input but did not help with the trim issue. There are no issue with any other planes…
lowest trim down level is the line directly ABOVE neutral.

Re: Constant vertical pitch
Are you saying you only have half of the trim range available? At the moment it's a little hard to help, unless you can answer specific questions like the one below that I asked earlier.

Re: Constant vertical pitch
No other axes conflics with the hat switch on the Alpha yoke, using default Alpha yoke settings in msfs. The trim handle over head cannot be adjusted down...stops before neutral position, so there is constant up trim. very strange thing, maybe I just have to try again after November 19th...Nick - A2A wrote: ↑06 Nov 2024, 10:32Are you saying you only have half of the trim range available? Re: Constant vertical pitch
Have you checked the status of the airframe using the 'inspect' button on the maintenance page of the tablet Rolf65?Rolf65 wrote: ↑06 Nov 2024, 12:19 No other axes conflics with the hat switch on the Alpha yoke, using default Alpha yoke settings in msfs. Assuming nothing is listed as broken here, please can you let us know exactly which functions you have assigned to your trim switch, and whether you're using the default MSFS control options, or any other software?
Thanks,

Airframe inspection ok, and all green in the maintenance status. Using default MSFS control options for the Alpha yoke, and doble checked that there are no assigned conflicks on the trim.
I will continue investigate the issue in the weekend. Very strange as no other GA has this trim issue

Re: Constant vertical pitch
I am having the same problem with the Comanche. The trim control will not move a full 360 with the mouse, my logitech panel trim wheel, or if I assign the trim to a rocker switch on my yoke. And there is aways a a bit of nose up trim dialed in. My Airframe is all in the green in the maintenance tab.

Re: Constant vertical pitch
I tried the Comanche in FS2024 and the trim wheel works in there although the notch is not lined up with neutral with what the sim says is 0% trim. The notch is lined up with the first notch up from neutral. This is very odd considering it isn't officially supported yet and it's not working in FS2020.
