Fuzzy Cubs P3Dv5

Post by Ron Attwood »

I've had a search through the forum and I thought I struck gold straight away! Sadly, no.
All my P3Dv5 aircraft have installed impeccably...Except the Cub. It's there ready for selection but the paintwork is all fuzzy. I've uninstalled it, it turned out I installed the P3Dv4 by mistake. Got the v5 version and installed that. Still fuzzy. Ah! I found the post about starting P3D after the uninstall THEN reinstalling. This HAD to be the answer....Oooh no it wasn't!
Where now?
P.S. I did ensure I had the right specs on. :(

I've just had a look in C:\Users\Ron\Documents\A2A\FSX and there is no J3 Cub folder in there. Is this significant?

All right you lot. You can stop searching for an answer. I've found it.

I was put on the trail by the video on the 'Blurries' thread. That was more focused on FSX, but finding the pr3pared3d.cfg I discovered that Max_Texture_load was set at 64 :? I changed it to 4096 et voila!

I've no idea why all the other planes displayed OK bar the Cub.

Don't you just love simulators? :D

Short lived I'm afraid. It looks as though P3D took exception to my edits and reverted to fuzzy. Daft thing is, every other paint in the collection is perfect! Am I alone in this or has nobody else installed the Cub into P3Dv5?

I installed it last night to have a look. It looks more washed out to me than fuzzy, but it may be the EA doing that, because I loaded all the cubs and a few other default liveries of other airplanes and they all looked washed out...like yellow T-6s. Weirdly, my custom liveries all look fine. I didn't notice anything I'd describe as fuzzy... :?

You have a point there Rob. It is something to do with graphics settings but why just the Cub. Why bother with the Cub I hear you ask. It actually IS a nice little kite to hoon around in on the odd occasion. But that's by the by.

Yes it is for sure and I have no idea...you're the painter extraordinaire and I know nothing about that stuff...
I just loaded a Mustang pic on the other thread and coming back here I think the Cub definitley does not look right somehow...like pastel-ish... :?

I've fiddled with 'Display' settings and the Cub now looks like yours. I'll quit while I'm ahead. It's nothing to do with painting. Everything looks A OK.
