Well, I think I have cured the problem with the protected "DialBox". It seems to work so far, but still a lot of the error.

Hi Jarrods,
Thanks for the encouragement. With that error. "DialBox" that gave about 20 errors and doing that cured quite a bit. The problem was then caused another 19 different errors. Arrr!
I suspect this is going to take a rather long time to cure all the problems so keep your fingers crossed. I've tried crossing mine and then I cannot type. Sorry for the last bit.
As I understand it, Buddye has been having trouble accessing the code with VS 2019. Hopefully I have been able to give him some hints.
Regards,

I too have everything crossed! Thanks for all your efforts chaps. I just wish I had technical knowledge to help you. But when you want something tested I’ll be waiting in the wings!

I am also crossing my fingers. Good luck guys on getting this to work on Windows 11.
Maybe ask Matrix games for help, they are still selling BOB2 Wings of Victory, and I am sure they would love to be able to sell it to Windows 10 and 11 users.

Hi all.
I was blundering around the internet & saw this thread. It won’t be the silver bullet we need but just in case it triggers any thoughts I’ll post it as it can’t do any harm!

After some tweaking, I got it to run well on my Win10 Home 64-bit PC. Here's what is working the best for me so far after upgrading from v2.00 to v.2.13...
Bob.exe customisation:
1. Run as Administrator
2. Win XP SP3 compatibility mode
(Instant Action menus and videos wouldn't run under Win 7 compatibility mode for me.)
(Alt-X doesn't crash for me under WinXPSP3 mode. It does crash for me under Win7 mode.)
3. Disable display scaling on high DPI settings (Disabling this eliminated many CTDs for me.)
In-game customisation:
4. Use Desktop Resolution: Off
5. 3D Resolution: set to normal desktop resolution (in my case, !1920x1080x32@60!)***
6. Campaign Resolution: set to normal desktop resolution (in my case, 1920x1080x32@60) *** If 3D Res & Campaign Res differ from each other, I get a CTD when running Instant Action.
7. Lower all graphics to low or medium (Alt-X will then work)
8. Anistropic set to 2x
I am still tweaking to see how high I can set graphics. {copied from my post at the A2A Simulations BOB2 General Discussion Forum}

Thanks Jarods. I will replicate your test (I am W10 too) and report back.

Re: Testing BOBII on W11with 2.13
BOB WoV is renowned for having a very evolved and accomplished AI !! … so the AI version 2.13 is excellent !
So why not use it ?
I then asked myself to take advantage of this state of affairs...
Indeed, let's take a version of BOB 2.01 which works very well on Windows 10 , and with only this version 2.01, try to update only the campaign part of the game with the AI of the version 2.13 , …, is it technically feasible ?
There are only experts in the field who can say ?
allo : Prem Holdaway, Buddye
because ultimately...no matter the quality of the textures....but indeed no CTD with 2.01 during the 3D resolution.
I throw the bottle into the sea...

hi
Unfortunately, two-three months ago the game can be purchased , but today no possibility with Matrix :

Wow! I did not know that Matrix games discontinued it. Well, that is discouraging.
Re: Testing BOBII on W11with 2.13
I do not have enough expertise with BOB2 and its past modifications and changes, but given sufficient interest, persistence and determination this suggestion of going back to 2.01 seems to be logical and practical.Indeed, let's take a version of BOB 2.01 which works very well on Windows 10 , and with only this version 2.01, try to update only the campaign part of the game with the AI of the version 2.13 , …, is it technically feasible ?

From my modding experience with other simulations this I know for sure that building up and continuing to develop anything on the shaky foundation does not guarantee good outcome.
I wonder also if there are any indications and written detailed older posts alerting to the problems after 2.01?
