Setting PayloadStation weight

Good morning, I am trying to set the Local PayloadStationX weights (and have been messing with the SimVar PAYLOAD STATION WEIGHT index X) which seems to be working for an instant and then getting reset. It even causes the aircraft to shake when I set it, but it gets set back immediately. Form what I can tell it seems that the Local variables for the aircraft are used to sync the SimVars, and the aircraft its self must be managing the local to lock it to a value that the aircraft controls and not sync with whatever is set. I'm probably just doing something stupid, can anyone tell me if there is a trick to setting these values and getting them to stick?
