I have been pregnant with this information for many weeks now, being a small part of the team of test pilots - finally, PilotEdge is making it official:
From July 21st to 25th PilotEdge will in collaboration with EAA and NATCA arrange "SimVenture", an online fly-in to Oshkosh simulating the famous Fisk-arrival, for flightsimmers around the world, using the PilotEdge online ATC-network.
This will be free for PilotEdge-users and those who have the trial period unused, and open for all simmers that can meet the requirements listed in the NOTAM.
Speaking of the NOTAM. Simply: Read it! Thoroughly
I'll be flying the A2A Bonanza on this event, and hope to see you all there.
Please fire away with questions if you have any.

I’d say it is good for all that are comfortable with online flying, an even those who want to try.
Hint: no talking on the radio required. Only listening for approach and landing instructions.
Being able to fly the aircraft proficiently is needed, though.

Will the war bird arrival also be simulated? or just the GA route in.

This year they are doing the Fisk-arrival only. So basically a GA-prop event.ianfisher 101 wrote: ↑06 Jul 2020, 06:11 Will the war bird arrival also be simulated? or just the GA route in.

If this is to be a major success (which I think it will be), they are toying with including the War Bird Island arrival as well. (and IFR!)
BTW: It may not be clear, but the real controllers from Oshkosh will also be controlling on PilotEdge for this event. So this will be as real as it gets!

Only one week to go!
I've been testing for a few hours today, with the real controllers from Oshkosh AirVenture. They will be do the controlling during the event, so this will be as real as it gets. Glorious fun!
"Cleared to land on the Orange Dot."
"Follow the flagmen to the parking. Welcome to Oshkosh!"

Re: 2020 AirVenture Oshkosh is "un-cancelled", for us simmers!
I’ve listened to those guys for many years watching Oshkosh arrival videos. Must be cool to be controlled by the real deal. Such a shame it’s not open to Vatsim users. Pilot Edge is such a small section of our community.

Start a 2 week trial! Load up your sim of choice, study the NOTAMs and fly! Free!ianfisher 101 wrote: ↑21 Jul 2020, 19:36 I’ve listened to those guys for many years watching Oshkosh arrival videos. And even more cleverly, study the NOTAM and only then fire up the sim and log into the network. There is a 2 week free period, with 5 hours of usage. So don’t waste it sitting in the aircraft reading the NOTAM.ryanbatc wrote: ↑21 Jul 2020, 21:21Start a 2 week trial! Load up your sim of choice, study the NOTAMs and fly!
