[Updated 7 June: fourth batch of P3Dv5 installers available] Prepar3D v5 and A2A Simulations
Re: [Updated 14 April 2020 with info for current P3Dv4 users] P3Dv5 and A2A Simulations
I'm really loving the new mesh and the clouds. A2A planes are working really nice.
Cloud resolution under the enhanced atmospherics is a FPS killer. Lowered settings and frames jumped dramatically.

Damn, I hoped to stay on Win7 until I update my i5 2500K based hardware, but I guess I'm getting the Win10 ahead of schedule after all...

I did a new PC-setup from scratch, installed P3Dv5 and a lot of ORBX stuff.
Curios I tried several Aircraft installers, but they usually look for P3Dv4 and dont work.
But! The A2A Cub installer worked fine in P3Dv5! Unfortunately P3D v5 crashed to desktop when trying to fly the Cub.
But! In fact, after reading this section, I simply had to search for the Windshield.dll and to remove it.
Now the A2A Cub is working nicely in P3D v5.
Cheers

Don't you get the same effect by removing or renaming the Windshield.ini file? Of course you'd have to do that for each individual aircraft. Removing or renaming the dll would handle all aircraft in one operation.Important note! To avoid a CTD when loading a P3Dv4 Accu-Sim aircraft in P3Dv5, you must disable the "Windshield.dll" in the "Documents\Prepar3D v5 Add-ons\A2A\Gauges" folder. You can do this by simply renaming or removing the dll in question.
Location of the dll file on my computer is \Prepar3Dv4\A2A\Gauges as I don't like extra stuff on the C drive where the Documents folder resides and specified a different folder for my first A2A installation.

No, that's only a configuration file loaded once the DLL is initialized.

So do you guys really see a that significant performance boost? I read almost everywhere that people don't see LM can justify the new purchase approach. I don't have the storage on my SSD to run both P4D and P5D so some statements would be great and I trust in the A2A community most

I would justify the upgrade for truesky alone. As far as performance, there is a noticeable difference to me. Maybe 40 to 50% increaseMarcE wrote: ↑15 Apr 2020, 05:23 So do you guys really see a that significant performance boost? Precisely what I will be doing. Wait for all my add-ons to get 'upgraded' first. For my part, rushing in at the start has always led to frustration with the slow progress to compliance.

Really needs active sky. That's what I look forward to most. Orbx works very well already. A2A works for the most part but there are some issues with rain going through the canopy; at least on the T6.bladerunner900 wrote: ↑15 Apr 2020, 08:13Precisely what I will be doing. That would be a very good decision. I think Active Sky will get their weather engine in v5 within a month or two by the hints they give on their website.Well, that stinks. I'm quite happy with ASP4 and ASCA in v4, one less reason to switch down the road unless a weather engine is added. Thanks for the info.
