I am officially old

Post by Hook »

Today is my birthday. I turned 70 today.

What do I want for my birthday? Well, I'd like to be 20 again. Failing that, an A2A Cub for P3Dv4. :D

Thank you Lewis and Dom! :D

When I was wondering what responses I'd get, one I hoped for was "Welcome to the club!" Thanks again for that.

And my first thought about *that* was Groucho Marx's comment, "I wouldn't want to join any club that would have me as a member." :D

<sigh>

Congratulations. I thought that at 60 I was old too.
Guess I have 10 more years left until then.

Happy Birthday Hook!!

I'm not there yet but half way from 60. Don't forget that age is just a number...it's state of mind that's important  and if that's still young enough to be looking forward to new A2A releases, then I'm sure you're good!!

I've actually found some advantages; my thought process has gone from, "I probably shouldn't say that..." to "Ah what the hell, let's see what happens!". It works and I'm good with it too

Thanks guys.

"Young at heart, slightly older in other places."

50 didn't bother me. Neither did 60. Somehow, 70 seems like some kind of milestone. Well, at least everything still works... mostly. :) I can still flight sim, I can still write code that works, I can still walk as far as I want. Life is good.

I guess I can be a curmudgeon now if I want and no one will think it inappropriate. :D Not like when I was only 69. :D :D

Only a youngster would say that. Just wait until bits start falling off!

I like that "60's twice" comment. I too joined that club in March of this year and I'm beginning to feel parts needing maintenance. I keep hoping that the stem cell research will allow a complete restoration before the parts deteriorate completely. Neil wasn't wrong about rust never sleeps. Happy birthday!

Hook: Anytime you pass one of those birthdays with a zero on the end it feels like a big deal; you are definitely older. As Mick Jagger said, "Getting old is such a drag!" Until you consider the alternative, that is.

I'm 73 and I can feel it - but, not nearly as much as I'd be feelin' it if my wife hadn't gotten me into our Strength 101 class at the local YMCA. I'm only good for about ten good kicks on the ol' '50 Pan without having to take a break now. Still, when she's finally running and I'm looking over the handlebars, I don't feel any particular age at all.

Right now I'm listening to the Grateful Dead and having a quaich (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quaich) of bourbon.

Keep the shiny side up and the greasy side down!

Happy (belated) birthday Hook.

If there's one inalienable right that goes with getting older, that's it.

Love the Groucho Marx quote. Here's another from We Were Soldiers (2002) - Sergeant Major Basil Plumley : If any of you sons of bi**hes calls me grandpa, I'll kill you. :x

Keep on simming, that's something we can hopefully all do for years!
