Engine start problem – Starter cranks engine OK but spark plugs do not seem to
Fire, however the engine starts OK if Ctrl + E is clicked during engine cranking.

Hello,

if the Ctrl-E works then the engines all working OK. Try giving her more throttle or a little more prime as the issue will be in the starting technique you are using. Remember the checklists are generic so just like in reality will need a slight adjustment depending on the aircraft and conditions, as hot and cold environments change it up again. Make sure you react to the what is happening, if its about to catch give her some power to nudge her along etc.

thanks,

Hi Lewis,
Thank you for your prompt response. Despite uinstalling/reinstalling the aircraft and replacing the battery and starter, disabling FSX automixture, and priming up to 8/10 times the engine cranks OK but still refuses to start. If Ctrl + E is clicked during engine cranking the fuel pump switches off and the engine starts but dies after a few revolutions. Do you have any suggestions?

Hi.
Prime 8 to 10 times will flood your engine and prevent starting , 5 times max for priming , also what was your outside air temp , did you have fuel selectors turned on to tip or mains or where these in the off position , should be mains for start/taxi/takeoff/landing, did you have fuel in your tanks , check shift+4 fuel/load manager , was the throttle cracked ie slightly pushed in , was your prop fully in , was your mixture pushed in , did your fuel pressure raise on the gauge when pump on .
Uninstall/reinstall is the last thing you should be doing , as this prevents proper diag of issue , also is your sim and aircraft updated , the download link is a basic aircraft , that then needs to be updated before use.
The issue you are discribing sounds like operator error , if you are new to A2A aircraft , then you need to do everything correctly as if it was a real aircraft , and you need to check your aircraft with a walkaround and check the hangar for faults , so you know the aircraft state , you can also set new or used in the shift+3 menu , a used aircraft is the default state the aircraft sets up as when first installed , the airframe hours in the hangar lets you know how used it is , a used aircraft might have a fault that needs repairing before it will start.
If you have not already done so i would suggest reading the manual , if you are still haveing issues , then give a full discription in the correct sequence you are doing things , it will help others to help you , and maybe able to see where things are going wrong , and hopfully get you airborne as quickly as possible.

Hi Lewis,
The engine starting problem seems to have been as a result of having no fuel in the tanks. Many thanks for your prompt response.
