engines off during taxi??
engines off during taxi??
I have seen on tv shows that they can taxi this monster with a couple engines off. how can they do that? in the simulator I have all four running plus the turbo dial up to seven and mine will taxi just fine. but I can't get it to move with out all four engines running. I have seen this with the super fortress as well.

Check your brakes and calibration, that would be my first thought if you need all four running to move, it sounds like you have a brake sticking or set to on which would point to a control issue.

you mean engine calibration? I can check that. but with all do respect that don't answer my question as to why they have 1 or 2 engines shut down?

Re: engines off during taxi??
Hi.
Lewis was asking this incase your brakes are binding , but the B17 cannot taxi when fully loaded unless all 4 engines are running , shes to heavy at this stage , i have after landing from a bomb run on the 17th of this month with slightly more fuel than expected , taxiied on 3 engines , after the flak had taken out the number 3 engine , it was slow and i had to have engine 2 at idle and just use the outboards , if you see the videos , the normal two engine taxi after a bomb run is with the inboards , but you need to watch the engine temps on two engine taxiies as they are running at a higher rpm/man.
