Yoke measurement favour please.

Post by Tutmeister »

Hi all,
I'm being cheeky and after a favour please.....
If anyone is able to measure the full travel of whatever ga aircraft they have access to it would be greatly appreciated.
I'd like to know how far from the panel the yoke site when full forward and full aft plus what aircraft it was.
I'm unable to get to the airfield until after Christmas now so if there is anyone who can provide these it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Chris,

I can do this with the A2A Comanche 250 any time. Can you be very specific what measurements you want and I will get them for you.

Scott.

This completely slipped my mind. I assume you had asked about this on Avsim? I'm going to the airport tonight so will measure the 172S and 182T.

Hey no problem, I had also asked on avsim. Don’t go to much trouble on my part!

I have to go to the airport no matter what, so it's no trouble for me.

I learned something new today. The travel isn't as much as I thought.

Measurement from vertical face of the panel to the backside of the vertical face of yoke where it attaches to the shaft.

182T 5" to 12" = 7" travel
172S 5.5" to 12" = 6.5" travel

If I applied some extra pressure forward or back I could get another .5" of travel, but I felt it would be most accurate to measure the actual travel stop to stop without accounting for the tension of control cables.

The data you already had was apparently very accurate!

Really appreciate the effort, thank you very much. That does seem less than I remember too and the discussion on avsim seems to paint everyone with the same brush. I'm going to make extra effort and get myself over there soon as I'd like to add a warrior to the list.
As I stated in my other post on avsim I bet it is because we notice the thing coming out of the panel a foot but never really go full forward ever. Conversely on flare I often get to the stops in the warrior.
