Unfortunately I think it is unlikely that A2A will make a Carbon Cub which is a shame. Because from what I hear it is a great airplane. And I'm sure Scott would have a blast on those research trips practicing STOL procedures :D

carbon cub idea

Hi Folks,

Along these lines - Cubcrafters just announced a brand new fully certified version with some great performance numbers - the Xcub... 153 MPH in a Cub - and 1000 mile range if you slow it down to true Cub speeds - not too shabby... Check out their website...

Wow that looks awesome. I sure would like to give that a try. I love the SuperCub but since I flew a 330nm cross country last year with a 20kt headwind I really wish it would be faster. I guess here's the answer. :D

I'd absolutely love an Accu-Simmed XCub! I still fly the J-3 a lot, but this one is a recreational bush flyer's dream... Just look at this baby:

Yeah, I know, but we can dream...

BTW, is that the new COTS product you're speaking of, or is there another "heavier than the Cub" GA plane in the works as well?

A mere $300,000.00 and it's yours...

Hehe. Yes but I'm afraid that's a bit above budget

I have mixed feelings about this one. I love the cub and the a2a version is awesome. The only thing I don't like about the a2a version is that it is strictly VFR day only. However I also like the fact that it is authentic. I think the carbon Cubs are cool but they lack authenticity and that sense of nostalgia.

I don't think they're supposed to be a replica of the good old Cub or Super Cub. They're more like the next step in the evolution of the Cub design. And I think if you look at them this way they're a logical advance in my opinion!
