Hi, this is my first public paint for the low wing wonder. This is a fictional repaint that is inspired by the famous Piper Cub.

Just released this nice old paint over at http://www.edrm-repaints.de.tl
The flying club "Motor Fluggruppe Obersimmenthal" owned this from the 70's till 1981 when it unfortunately crashed near the swiss airfield Zweisimmen (LSTZ).

Thanks a lot!
I'm flattered you like it that much because I just had one single 70ies-quality picture and the memories of a friend of mine to reproduce that paintjob. :D
He flew with it in his childhood.
There is an interior based solely on his descriptions by the way, I just forgot to post a picture.

My wife handed me a photo earlier of the other Shropshire Aero Club Archer II which, somehow, I seem to have avoided getting in my logbook. Not entirely sure how, but hey. I thought I'd flown them both.

But anyway, Kilo Whiskey had Amarillo font registrations, painted wheel spats and a couple of other differences compared to G-CIFR, so...

Well hey, all the work was already done, so it only took about ten minutes to convert.

G-ATYS......Yankee Sierra

Pilottj requested this bird sometime last May. Speedy70 re-requested it on Jan 31st. Since then, thanks to Speedy70's research on a ton of logos and communicating with the real life pilots Andy Hardy and Sam Kidd (new member here on the forum), there have been a bunch of PM's and emails flying to get this project done. The project.....a repaint of Yankee Sierra (G-ATYS) the plane used by Andy and Sam to fly from London to Sydney between June and December of 2014. This was The Cherokee Challenge Flight - London to Sydney the Slow Wayflight to raise monies for OXFAM. http://fundraising.oxfam.org.uk/events/ ... 230719.pdf. Andy also supplied us with a "Sanitized" version of the flight plan which is included in the package in Microsoft Excel format. I might add that in doing this repaint, I was supplied with a set of photos of YS totally undressed, no wings, no prop, no gear. As with most girls with her shapely body, she was even more beautiful..... My hat is of to Andy Hardy and Sam Kidd for taking on the mission, the great photographs and for their continued assistance in getting our questions answered. And thanks to Chris - speedy70 for his assistance in getting this plane repainted on the A2A Cherokee 180.

Hello everyone! I am the owner of G-ATYS pictured above, and I'm just bowled over with the details of this paint... I can tell you it is 99.9999% perfect (there is no dirt, that is all that seems to be missing) :)

My copilot Sam and I flew Yankee Sierra from London to Sydney to raise money for Oxfam during October and November of 2013. You can see all of our take off and landing videos from the trip on Vimeo here: https://vimeo.com/andyhardy/videos/sort ... :thumbnail plus you can follow us on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/CherokeeChallengeFlight ... feel free to contact Sam or myself directly as well.

Very happy to take any questions about our journey - I also have a PPT slide deck we can post (we have presented this at a number of flying clubs here in the UK) if that is of interest to people.

I still fly YS regularly today - hoping to visit friends in Holland with her tomorrow in fact )

Cheers!

Andy
