Paint kits usually contain only the main fuselage and wing textures and sometimes the interior however there is nothing stopping you from changing any of the other textures if you so wish.

To weather the engine parts proceed as follows:
  • 1. Find the 'engine.dds' file in the 'A2A_PiperJ3_share' folder and copy it.
    2. Paste the copied file to whatever location you are using to store you WIP textures.
    3. Open the file in your paint program of choice and save it as the default type of file for your program (i.e. as a PSD file if using Photoshop).
    4. Add weathering on new layers until you are happy with it.
    5. Save the file and then either 'Save As' a DDS file or convert the file to DDS (depending on your paint program and methodology) using the same 'engine.dds' file name.
    6. Move the new DDS file to your 'texture.XXX' folder and NOT the 'A2A_PiperJ3_share' folder where 'XXX' is the name for your new paint scheme.
    7. Ensure that your 'texture.XXX' folder contains the 'texture.cfg' file present in the stock A2A texture folders, if the file is not present copy and paste a copy from one of the stock A2A texture folders.
FSX will apply textures from the 'texture.XXX' folder first before looking in the 'A2A_PiperJ3_share' folder so your weathered engine will appear on your paint and the shiny new engine will still appear on all the other paints.

I think you'll probably wish you stayed at home, I know I did :?
Nah, it was quite alright. Too much shaky cam, though.

Dirty, weathered metal floats? With a green-algae water line?
Olive, but yeah. ;)

Don't worry. This livery can be used with all four variations. Instructions included. ;)

Okay, I've done that. I was just wondering, because some companies get very touchy about using stuff that isn't officially included in the paintkit.

The DDS with "lossy" compression isn't a good base for quality. This can be one of the reason.

I didn't like the fact that there was too much shakey cam in District 9. But I liked the movie. My son has seen it three times so far!

And to the paint job? Fantastic. I'm downloading it now. Great job Jigsaw! :)
