Hello all, I painted a C182 and had the paint on the plane but decided to do a little more work to it but now when I re save it shows the entire paint pallet. I am using Photoshop with the Nvidia .dds plugin that has worked well with 888.8 no mips and flipped as well as not flipped. I have had this issue before but can’t remember how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
John

These are the settings I use for 8888 textures with A2A

Hey Blade runner thanks for the reply. The only difference on mine is I’m using normal on the quality the rest is the same but the paint palette is showing up very faintly on the top of the wings and a couple other spots. I wish I was home I could send you a picture.

Re: Entire paint pallet showing on plane instead of the actual paint job
Paint or decals, like aircraft reg. numbers showing as faded or see-through, could be an Alpha channel issue. Perhaps make the painted\stencil areas more transparent, or lighter grey in the Alpha, or even totally white?
Steve.
Edit: For 'normal' and A2A, I set the Format - BC3 RGBA 8bpp - DXT5: Interpolated alpha.
Ah! I see. I've always used 'Highest' for compression quality.

Re: Entire paint pallet showing on plane instead of the actual paint job
That is weird. Normally I would say flip the image but you say you have. The logo on the side certainly looks the right way up and the paint kit is just the one texture. So nothing to mix up in that regard. It's almost as if it's the wrong kit. Things look to be in the wrong place certainly. This may sound daft but it's not the 172 paint kit on the 182, is it?

Re: Entire paint pallet showing on plane instead of the actual paint job
I have only painted the 182 planes. This is my 2nd paint job and the other one is great other then the prop cone doesn’t show up. I checked the layers between the 2 paints and all the appropriate layers are visible. I am at a loss. I will make sure it is the correct kit though…

When I am trying to correct the paint I am running the simulator so I can reload the plane to look at it. Could that be causing it and is there a program that would allow me to inspect the paint without the simulator?

Show us a screenshot of the entire Photoshop window. There might be a clue. It looks like a layer has been left off or left on.

There is the screenshot and I have compared it to the other paint I did and I don't find a difference.

My guess is there is a layer turned on when it should be off. Perhaps some from the previous paint. Doesn't look to me as though you don't make a separate Group for each paint like this

Try turning different layers off and see if there's a difference

Re: Entire paint pallet showing on plane instead of the actual paint job
Ok I have confirmed that I am indeed using the 182 paint kit. I have been doing some comparing though and I have found this and I don't know where it came from, but I will go through each layer to see if I can find it.

Ok, I have just noticed that the cockpit lines are moved to the tail but I don't have a clue how that could be.
