Re: bare metal repaints
I've been meaning to revisit that one. So I did today. There were a couple of things needing attention, like the stencilling in the spec for instance. Done now so, good oh!Flieger-Marius wrote: ↑12 Oct 2019, 07:57 Gotta grab the Breitling one. Awesome detail with the yellow helmet!
For some reason, it's probably the large canopy, I've always noticed at airshows how the helmet always stands out in a P51.

Re: bare metal repaints
Quick question. Is there a reason the wings aren't polished? Is it the glare for the pilot? I would like to have a P-51 and AT-6 100% polished. By the way nice work jcblom.

Re: bare metal repaints
That's the theory. Being momentarily blinded in the middle of a crucial manoeuvre could be fatal. Same reason for the anti glare paint on the nose as well. Not sure how the chap flying the Silver Spitfire is coping.

Re: bare metal repaints
When they were delivered from the factory, all P-51 had their wings sanded, filled and painted to make sure they had laminar flow of air over the wings. Hence the non shiny aspect of the wings.
P-38's in a similar fashion had painted engines and parts of their wings.
How long this lasted in combat I'm not sure..

Re: bare metal repaints
Here's one I downloaded awhile back. I tried to find the painter before I made this post so I could give them credit but couldn't. I may just be to lazy to look a little slower. This is beautiful and if I could get one like it without markings it would great.

Re: bare metal repaints
Hello again guys, starting to learn the B-17, are there any bare metal repaints for her?
Thanks

Re: bare metal repaints
I've done a ridiculous amount of repaints for the B-17, including many bare metal ones. But these will always carry markings, I never did a completely bare one.

Re: bare metal repaints
Hi Jan, thanks for your reply and for the amazing work you have done for the community with these beautiful repaints.
I do not have FB so I searched on the avsim library and I can't find #4 and #7 you have posted here. Where can I find them?
Thanks

Re: bare metal repaints
sorry for my late reply, there's not really a point to visit here since I moved to MSFS unfortunately..
Turns out these paints were available on the old OZx site, but that got hacked, so they are not available at the moment.
If you still want them, drop me a mail and I'll make sure you get them.
