Post by CessnaSkypilotN7365W »

The button for the oil dipstick access door. I have painted the engine cowling but still have a white button. Where is this part located on the paint kit psd file. I'm pulling my hair out!!!

I believe this is what you are looking for

This is one of A2A's default paints D-EXSW, texture.3.

In this paint the button wasn't colored.

Try it on your own paint scheme.

Alan, EightyFiftyFive did a small parts layout guide for the 182. The image was re-posted here.

Here it is in green. The actual detail is in the Linear Burn layer.

Colour fill half the texture with a distinctive colour to identify approximately, where the part is that you are interested in. Continue to half until you zero-in on the part you want is eventually identified. It may take a few goes.

Cheers.

Finally! Thank you!

I never thought of zeroing in by half-filling until it gets changed. Good idea.

I will be posting a pic or two when I'm finished!

I don't know if you have heard of it, but ModelConverterX can speed up your workflow. No need to switch back and forth from sim to Photoshop. I did a quick explanation in this thread.

Happy painting.

Thanx for all your help George and Steve.

Let me continue to pick your brains.
1) Is it possible to place real-people faces in the cockpit instead of a bunch of Heidi's relatives? Would love to see a familiar face when in an outside view. I see the frontal pictures of the default faces and have already tried replacing them with no luck.
2) If I wanted to throw a few magazines on the floor behind the rear seats where would I find that texture and is it unique to that piece of carpet or repeated throughout the cabin.

Yes I am looking for a "fully customized" makeover. I'm digging deep :!: :!:

 :D

I've done a bit of tinkering with hair colour, uniform and helmet, but never faces. They should be do-able but look more complicated, requiring stretching or flattening out somehow.

For the magazine on the floor, I think the file you want for the 182 is the c182_c8_t.dds in textures, or the one in texture.vc_beige. The only way to know is by experimenting. Probably paste in a magazine cover and give it a bit of a drop shadow. The file in textures is shared with all paints, so to affect just one paint, you would have to include an altered copy of the c182_c8_t.dds file (if its the right one) in the texture folder you are customising.

Good luck
Steve.
