Photoshop CS5 is the main software I use for painting. DXTBmp is used for converting as well as producing alphas. And I use ModelConverterX to view the external elements to ensure proper alignment of textures, lines, curves, etc. before loading into sim for a more in depth inspection.

I downloaded a DDS plugin so that I can convert it freely into a DDS file, then I start from there. I don't repaint it directly to the Paintkit as it lags my PC
“You Drive a Mustang?”
“No, I fly one.”
“No, I fly one.”

I use Affinity Photo to paint and DXTBmp to convert to .DDS files. The Nvidea DDS plugin works in Affinity but I've been using DXTBmp for so long it's second nature so why change a habit if it works.
I prefer Affinity because it's vector based and also is a one time purchase rather than a subscription like Photoshop.
