Is it possible to replace beacon light with something 'non beamed' ?
For night time this effect is cool, but during day time those rotating beams do not look realistic.

Re: Beacon
I think the beacon is in the mdl file. You can modify the nav, landing, strobes and vc lighting in the config but no beacon listed. I wanted to do something myself but can't figure it out.

Re: Beacon
Hello Artur,
If you wish to disable the 3D light 'cones' for the rotating beacon, you can just move the 14 *.fx files for this ("fx_WoP3_P51_civ_b_1.fx" through "fx_WoP3_P51_civ_b_14.fx") into a different folder.
Thanks,
Nick

Re: Beacon
Thanks Nick. I have been trying for awhile to experiment with different beacons and now it's possible through the aircraft config. Whats nice is if I can't find one I like just put these files back in.Nick - A2A wrote: ↑15 Jun 2020, 16:43 Hello Artur,

Re: Beacon
Hi Nick, thanks for reply, sorry to say but removing of those 14 fx files did not change beacon light - still beamed

Re: Beacon
I could be wrong but I think you need to rename the associated files in the TEXTURE folder, as the model I believe reaches directly into that folder to display these light textures in the model which has the 3d light beams.

Re: Beacon
Artur,
Do you mean the 3D 'cones' of light, or the dynamic lighting of the aircraft textures and ground surface?
If it's the latter, removing the files mentioned above should do the trick. However, FSX/P3D must be restarted for any changes like this to take effect.
Thanks,

Re: Beacon
I want to get rid of those beams emitted by beacon light - lighthouse effect, nothing else.

Re: Beacon
Are you sure you removed the correct files Artur? And did you restart the sim?
Thanks,
Nick

Re: Beacon
Yes, i am sure that i have removed correct files.
I have also removed beacon_t file from Texture folder.
No effect, 'lighthouse effect' disappear only when i remove 'fx_WoP3_P51_civ_beacon.fx' from Effects folder, but then there is no red light, just rotating beacon.

Re: Beacon
Hi Artur,
Could you post a screenshot to show what you mean by "lighthouse effect"? I think you must mean the dynamic lighting.
Thanks,
Nick

Re: Beacon
This may be unavoidable as the red light texture being used to make the beam is probably the same that illuminates the beacon.Artur wrote: ↑16 Jun 2020, 11:27 Yes, i am sure that i have removed correct files.

Re: Beacon
Once I removed all 15 files I edited the aircraft config file to have the AT-6 Beacon.(You have to have the A2A AT-6 to have that beacon) It is a dim pulsing light. You can try it by adding line seven to the [lights] part of config. If you don't like it then you can go to the effects folder and pick different beacons and replace in the highlighted area. There are different rotating beacons in the effects folder. If I knew how to post a video I would.Artur wrote: ↑16 Jun 2020, 11:27 Yes, i am sure that i have removed correct files.

Re: Beacon
Thought I would do photos but this may not do it justice. The white light is another aircraft flying towards me.

Re: Beacon
I do not have T6 ( had before on other comp, but lost HD, and now do not have access ).
I have tried to replace beacon effect from another plane, but without success.
As long as i cannot solve that thing, i will fly as up to now - without beacon.
Thanks for help.
