Re: Fuselage tank not working........Fixed

Post by Raceguy »

Hello everyone

I'm running the latest P3Dv4 in W10 and usually leave 25 gal in fus. tank just for balance. I have noticed 24.9 gallons remaining after a flight where I switched from left to right wing tank during flight and that gave me an idea.

So I filled the fus tank for a long flight and as soon as I switch to it I see the fuel pressure drop then the engine sputters. This happens on the ground and in the air on both the A2A CIV and MIL. I also checked the VC to make sure my controller was working correctly, switching to the fus tank, and it is.

What am I missing here?

Thanks
Ed

My controller switch rotates my selector in a clockwise direction only. So, if I am switching from Left tank to right tank my fuel pressure gauge will drop and the warning light will come on for a quick moment as I pass by the drop tank positions. If I am switching from Right tank to Fuselage tank the pressure drop may not be noticed at all. Switching past any empty tank will cause pressure loss and warning light to be activated. Switching directly to the next tank with fuel may cause slight pressure drop as the pump is getting the fuel flow going in the new line. However, if I'm quick with the selector it never sputters. If you are switching from Right tank to Left tank and pause even shortly on fuselage tank and do that a couple of times it will draw some fuel from that tank.

Cheers
Roger

Hi guys

Flapman, yep, fuel pump is on.

Roger, I agree the pressure may drop if the fus tank was empty when I passed over it slowly or it was selected. What I'm trying to do is use the fus tank, but when tested with 25 gal to a full tank, when selected the pressure drops and the engine sputters. I tried it at a higher elevation today and just waited but pressure never came up and the engine failed to run and I had to switch back to wing tank.

So, for some reason my fus tank will not provide fuel.

Thanks
Ed

So, yeah, trace your fuel lines looking for kinks a other blockage
Definitely something wrong there. I'm sure A2A will have a suggestion for you.

Hello everyone

After much head and other body part scratching I finally have the fus tank working again. Even though the selector turned in the VC pointing to the fus tank my controller had somehow dropped that LVar setting. I know it was working when I first setup my controls but since the fus tank was never used it wasn't missed.

I just finished a flight to check the tank and all is well.

Take care
Ed
