Hi All,
I'm having trouble with the 'active entry mode' of both the com and nav radios in the p51 Civ.
I press the transfer button for about 2 seconds. The display then shows the active frequency only as described in the manual but turning the dials doesn't actually change it !!.
Also having a similar problem with the channel selector. I can bring up the channel identifier and see a frequency. I can also make the channel number flash, but with either mode cannot change the frequency or indeed put the frequency into standby or active.
Any help would be appreciated.
This is a fresh install of the p51 on a the steam edition. Plane updated to the latest update.
Thanks and Regards
Simon

"but turning the dials..." How did you try this?
Have you tried using the mousewheel with focus over the knob to turn it?
Regards

Re: P51 Civ radios not functioning correctly
Hi Jens, thanks for the reply."but turning the dials..." How did you try this?
To explain a bit more....
When the radio is in its default mode I can change the frequency in the standby window by using the mouse wheel and press the Transfer button to change the frequency to active. This is no problem at all and works fine.
The problem is that the manuals say that if you " ...press and hold the Transfer button for more than 2 seconds. The frequency displayed in the Active window can then be changed using the Frequency Control Knobs."
This is that part I can't get to work. If I press the Transfer button for the correct amount of time the Standby frequency disappears from view leaving just the Active frequency, which may be correct. But I then cannot change the Active frequency which I think I should be able to do.
Thanks and regards
Simon

Ah, okay. Haven't tried this for long but should work with the mousewheel too. Don't know, if there's time to check tonight.

Re: P51 Civ radios not functioning correctly
Habe it a try and works as described.
Pressing the button, after some seconds there is only the upper frequency visible. This can be changed using the rotating knob.
Everything up to date with the installation? You can just run it again just to be sure.

Re: P51 Civ radios not functioning correctly
Hi Jens,
Thanks for taking a look. Are you running on FSX Steam Edition ?
I switched to win10, FSX_SE on a new SSD the other week.
I know the radios were working on the normal FSX version before so was wondering if its just me or a steam thing ?
If someone else who has FSX_SE could check out the 'Active Entry' on either the NAV or COM radio and let me know that would be appreciated.
Many Thanks
Simon

Re: P51 Civ radios not functioning correctly
I have P3D, not FSX-SE but I decided to give it a try. My radios behave as you describe - the radio's display switches to active only, and the scroll wheel is physically rotating the knobs, but no change to the displayed frequency.
Re: P51 Civ radios not functioning correctly
I'm running FSX Steam Edition on Win10, too. This should not be the general problem.

Re: P51 Civ radios not functioning correctly
I can confirm the behaviour you describe too Simon (with FSX-SE in my case). In "active entry mode" the standby frequency disappears. However, the rotary knobs don't change the active frequency as they should; instead they continue to change the (now invisible) standby frequency.

Re: P51 Civ radios not functioning correctly
Thanks for looking into it as well Nick
I have had a further thought about this...
I have recently installed all of my a2a aircraft in FSX_SE and I recall one of them asked if I was using FSX acceleration or FSX SP2. I have a feeling that was one of the mustangs. I can't remember what I selected but am wondering if that may have something to do with it.
Thanks and Regards

The one that asks that is the Stratocruiser, so it wasn't related.

Re: P51 Civ radios not functioning correctly
I'm sure they do Simon, though I think the 'tech support' sub-forums tend to get prioritised. I gather Lewis is moving house at present which probably explains why he's not around as much as usual.
Cheers,
Nick
