Arguably the finest fighter aircraft of World War II.

This is fantastic stuff! I'm really enjoying it- I added my own pilot and mix'n matched cockpit (actually a combo of cdfi's amazing work)! My only critique would be that the radiator flap and oil flap should also be the same aluminum texture as the rest of the aircraft. My father was just at the McGuire (NJ) airshow yesterday and got some great shots of this exact plane... your repaint is pretty much identical. Thanks so much for doing this one!

Hey Joe! I'd like to get it as close to the real thing as possible, so do you mean that the areas outlined in red should be silver and not shiny aluminium?

Image

Oh wait!.. Or do you mean the intake areas (in red) around the scoops?

Hey- I was actually referring to the side of each flap- I've circled in red how they are on the actual plane on one of the photos posted with the original request:

Here is how it looks in the sim, unpainted:

Hope this helps!

Ah okay. I didn't notice those. I'll get on that. What I spotted was this on the intakes. The nose is obvious but I'm not sure about the other, so I'll leave that.

what are you guys using for the 3d model? would be nice to have instead of going in an out of the sim with it.

Model Converter X. I've been using it for a while now. It's very handy for checking texture alignment. Unfortunately it does not show the effect of specular textures, so you still have to go in and out of the sim to see that. You also have to have the FSX SDK installed, which I had with FSX Gold.

Thanks guys. I've learned quite a bit doing this paint, about what goes where and shading and stuff. :) Hey Pistonpilot. I like that sunrise/sunset shot. Very romantic.

Just a heads up. You may want to download again because I noticed that shiny bit on the bottom of the rudder and got rid of it.

Cheers guys.
Steve.

Oh how I miss the Breitling WW2 fighter displays, so much awesome in such a tight four sim formation of totally different warbirds. Now those pilots had some skill able to do that!

thanks,
