SCREENSHOTS (WoP3 P-51 Military)

Arguably the finest fighter aircraft of World War II.

Lots of practice to do refining take-off and landings, but improving.

I seem to beating the FSX:SE estimate fuel burn on longer flights by a lot, and had thought about another thread questioning this, or whether it was from learning minimum fuel consumption in the Spitfire (ie., crossing from the southern most point of South America to Antarctica), that it all applies.

For example (KCRW to KORL):

Flying under 10,000ft (to not use oxygen), and just enough burn to keep airborne and steady (roughly 225mph airspeed):

End results (far below FSX:SE estimated fuel burn):

No complaints. Just wondering if I was doing something right, and what it was. Or, why?

I do not think the FSX fuel estimates are very accurate with Accusim aircraft. I use the shift 2 panel fuel estimates entirely.

Yes you will want to use the realistic Accu-sim panels not the standard FSX bits for the fuel burn etc. Ideally the original manuals, checklists etc are best.

thanks,

At -4°C she needs quite some time to warm up but once you get her going there's no stopping :)

Thanks Lewis. Yes outside temps were round about -8C but thankfully the cockpit heat in the Mustang works like a charm
