No cockpit sounds
I cannot get any cockpit sounds from either Spitfire or P40 having upgraded to v5. I have read and implemented the suggestions put forward in previous posts but no luck.

Re: No cockpit sounds
Hello Simon,
Please can you confirm that you've tried each of the following?
Thanks,
Nick
Please can you confirm that you've tried each of the following?
- Make sure the volume control at the bottom left of the Shift 3 menu isn't set to minimum.
- Make sure your default Windows playback device (which may be different to the device which you've assigned in P3D) is plugged in and turned on.
- Check to see if there's an "audio.dat" file in the "Documents\A2A" folder, and if there is, try deleting it.
Thanks,
Nick

Re: No cockpit sounds
The volume is at 100%
I do not understand what is meant by the default windows playback device. How do I ascertain what it is and whether it is plugged in and turned on?
There is no audio.dat file in the Documents/A2A folder.
The Oculus Rift S headset is the audio device I am using for playback and it is connected via a display port on the graphics card and a USB port on the motherboard. It works perfectly with all default P3D v5 aircraft but there’s no sound when flying with the A2A Spitfire, Mustang, P40 and Texan.

Re: No cockpit sounds
Thanks Simon - in this case, please can you open the "Accusim sounds menu" in the Prepar3D "Add-ons" menu. You should find that your headset is listed as one of the audio devices, and if so, it should just be a case of selecting it.simon.fraser wrote: ↑12 Jun 2020, 08:13 The Oculus Rift S headset is the audio device I am using for playback and it is connected via a display port on the graphics card and a USB port on the motherboard. The easiest way to check what your default audio device is in Windows 10 is to click on the speaker icon in the system tray. If you have speakers attached to your PC as well as the VR headset, chances are these will be the default device.

Re: No cockpit sounds
There is no Accusim sounds menu in the P3Dv5 Add-Ons folder.
Just an A2A folder and an Accu-Feel folder.
When I click on the speaker icon I am greeted with “Headphones (Oculus Virtual Audio Device.)“ Thank you for teaching me this.

Re: No cockpit sounds
It's the "Add-ons" menu, not the folder in this case where you should be looking Simon.
However, it sounds like the headphones are already you default device. Please can you still check that menu option though.
Thanks,
Nick

Thanks for clearing up the menu issue for me and apologies for the misunderstanding on my part.
I did as you suggested but the Oculus headphones are the device selected under the Add-ons menu and still no sound.

Re: No cockpit sounds
Thanks Simon,
The Accu-Sim sound effects don't support switching audio devices 'on the fly' so are you starting up the VR headset before you loading an A2A aircraft?
Also, which aircraft currently loads in your default P3Dv5 scenario?
Cheers,
Nick

Yes I am starting up the VR headset before loading an A2A aircraft.
My current default aircraft is the Milviz Lockheed P38.

Re: No cockpit sounds
Hello Simon,
are you starting up your VR prior to P3D itself?
It is program specific not aircraft selection specific. So you want to make sure your sound is all set correctly prior to starting the sim.
thanks,

Re: No cockpit sounds
Sadly due to my general computer incompetence I have managed to stuff up my PD3v5 in my attempts to resolve this sound issue and having subsequently uninstalled and reinstalled the program, it will not now load. So I’m currently in the process of trying to reinstall a new copy of v4.5 to see if that version can handle A2A sounds through the Oculus Rift headset. I will let you know you know how I get on. Thanks for your all your help Nick and Lewis.

Hello Simon,
just to confirm in that case, you where using the P3Dv5 P-40 software in P3Dv5 and not trying to use the P3Dv4 P-40 in v5?
thanks,

I was definitely using the P40 v5 software in P3D v5.
