Post by jcblom »

I've finally got the P-40 started in P3D, and I'm revisiting some old, and making some new paints:

Check Avsim out, Jankee's has not just a good portfolio but perhaps one of the best community repaint portfolios on the planet 8)

AVSim library search Jankees or Jan Kees Blom will result in a treasure trove for you 8)

Those skins are absolutely amazing. I used to skin for sims in the old days before transparency layers and such, and really appreciate the work that went into them.

That said, I have a request for, hopefully, a very minor new repaint. Could you do a skin for "Scarsdale Jack" Newkirk, the first c/o of AVG 2nd Sqn? Newkirk's plane was P-8196, #34 (blue band). His career was tragically short, but he was quite famous for a time. His grave is a few blocks from me here in Scarsdale, and I try to raise awareness of him here in his boyhood home, where he has been all but forgotten.

I have posted what I know about Newkirk's bird here:
http://aircraft-in-focus.com/jack-newki ... eferences/

I figure literally all this would take would be to change the airplane number of AVG #36 above to #34, the serial to P-8196, and to stick Newkirk's drunken panda emblem on the fuselage. I started to do it myself, but soon found that to go learn GIMP and figure out the paint kit for this small edit wasn't efficient.

Thank you again for your great skins.

Jankees, as you'll see on the screenshot thread, I went ahead and did the Newkirk skin myself. Your AVG skins were a great starting point, so thanks for that.

I loved your AVG formation pics on the screenshot thread. What do you use for the formations? I'm just starting to play with AITrackerX, which is quite a pain to set up, but I hope it produces results like that.

Jankees, all.... you know when you've been around for a while and then you come across something awesome and think ... how did I never see this before?

That just happened.

Jankees, thank you!

Go Handy!

Jack
