missing engine sounds

Post by vx800 »

Hi A2A
Thanks for some fantastic sim planes, I have 9 now and are planning to purchase the connie as soon as I change to P3D V4.
I have purchased COTS Boeing 377 on the 13 of November from Just Flight. Installation looked ok but when
I started to fly, I found out there were no engine sounds. Cockpit sound, crew voices and startup sounds are
all ok. And the plane is ok, is flyes and performs as it should, the baby is crying and so on.

Reason for the missing engine sounds seems to be missing waw files in the sound folder, there are only 2
files, one waw for gear and one cfg file and there should be 65 I think.
I have tried to install 3 times as administrator with my virus scanner disabled. I have also tried to run the
A2A update, also as administrator and with virus scanner disabled.

I have noticed that in my download folder where “wos_b377_v2_full.EXE” is placed , during installation a
strange new folder is created called “o”, contents are some 20 files, mostly .cab files but also one
DXSETUP.EXE file and 2 .dll files

W10 runs from my C drive and FSX steam is placed on my E drive.

E:\microsoft flight simulator X steam edition\steamapps\common\FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes
\WoS_B377\sound\ sound.cfg and WOS_B377_gear_down_waw

I run w10, FSX Steam,
Mainboard : PEGATRON CORPORATION 2AB5
> Chipset : Intel H67
> Processor : Intel Core i7 2600 @ 3400 MHz (max : 3800)
> Physical Memory : 16384 MB DDR3-SDRAM
> Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580
> Hard Disk : Hitachi HDS723020BLA642 (2000GB)
> Hard Disk : INTEL SSDSA2BW120G3H (120GB)

Hi

as I wrote, it is bought from Just flight

they have suggested that I disable my virus scanner and download the files again
also, I ran the installation file as admin with no scanner active
I also ran the updater as admin with no virus scanner
I tried just 2 hours ago and it did not help, there is anly one waw file in sound folder

Hi there,

It seems that I have the same problem. Just acquired the B377 via Simshack. received one download link for wos_b377_v2_full (271 mb)
No engine sounds installed after running the exe-file. Should I also have received two donwloads?

thanks in advance,

Marijn

Hi Guys,

Looks like I have the same problem with the cockpit lights for FSXSE. I only have the 1 installation file wos_b377_v2_full that downloaded from the a2a store.

Any help for me ?

Best Regards
Simon

HI, I'm new to these forums and I'm having the same issue as the others before me. I have tried reinstalling running as admin turning off virus software and still no luck and no engine files but the 2. Think I need to get ahold of one of the A2A guys to get that extra link for the other part of the download as I only have the one V2 full installation file for the B377. All help is appreciated!

Hi,

I have just the same problem as all others: no engine sounds. I have COTS_FULL377_FSX which I installed. There is also a Wos_b377 which I did not install. In my soundfile there is only the cfg file and gear dwn wav file.

Update:
In one of the other Posts I saw a “double install” mentioned. So, I also installed Wos_b377 and yes, now the sound file is complete.
But after I started FSX and got in the B377, I did not hear the crew anymore and there were also other things not working as they should.
So I uninstalled all. Then rebooted my computer. I now installed first: Wos_b377 and after that: COTS_FULL377_FSX.
This secuence is important, for now all is working.
I wonder why there is no mentioning of this in a "read me first.txt" or via the file name like e.g. Wos_b377_1st / COTS_FULL377_FSX_2nd.

The plane now flies well with all sounds belonging to it. Great plane! 😀👍

Kind regards,
Tom

Tom,
Thank you very much for your detailed post. I followed your directions exactly and resolved the issues that I was having with audio and cockpit lighting. The only way I could find the Wos_377.exe file was to find a backup copy of an old download. It was not available on my download page. A big thank you to A2A for making planes so enjoyable to fly that I am willing to smash my head against the wall for a few hours to get working properly again! I wish I had found this discussion earlier.

Thank you again,
Woody
