B377 on Windows 8

Post by jibjab3 »

For the last year or so I have been using the B377 in Windows 7 and FSX w. Acceleration
I had installed the Wings of Silver plus the SP1
All worked great

Just got a new PC with Windows 8
Installed the WOS plus SP1
On idle engines do not run smoothly - needles bumping around
At higher rpm the manifold pressure and torque on all four engines fluctuate wildly - and smoke is belching out of both engines - in cruise I fulled throttles back to idle but still have 2500 rpm
Engaged/disenged Auto Turbos and it did not seem to make any difference
I uninstalled and re-installed just the WOS ( no SP1) - engines run as expected - but now am missing the "fixes" from the SP1

It needs to be asked since you didn't specify: you do have FSX settings as per the manual, and you have run the latest updater ( out today ) since your re-install?

FSX setting are correct and I have UIAutomationCore.dll installed
Other aircraft (PMDG. Just Flight) run without a problem
The update you refer to - is this an FSX WIN 8 or WOS update.
My WIN 8 did a bunch of updates this morning - will test the B377 again and let you know the status

Ran Windows updates
Did complete uninstall of B377
Installed WOS
Ran SP1 (wos_b377_Service_pack_1 dated 06/30/2011) - I had this saved on my hard drive and cannot find it on the A2A site. Among other things it adds the "early" BOAC
Ran the ACCU-SIM updater posted this morning (A2A_Updater_06_19_15)

Started up FSX and B377 in default mode (engines running at idle)
At idle rpm Manifold pressure on all 4 engines in bouncing are 1 second intervals (bouncing from 5 to 15)
As I increase Throttle the Manifold Pressure and Torque increase but not at the usual rate. Manifold pressure, fuel pressure and torque continue to bounce until I reach 2300 rpm at which point the bouncing stops and I have black smoke belching out of all 4 engines

If I do a complete uninstall and reinstall WOS_B377 + A@A_Updater_06_19_15 the engines, Manifold Pressure and Torque behave as expected - i.e. correctly

And now I must publicly announce my own stupidity
Unchecking "Enable Automixture" in the FSX Realism Settings has solved the problem
