Sunday, March 13 - Alaska Adventure

Post by ratty »

Please read entire post.

Several young women (all blondes, and all, inexplicably, called Heidi) have found themselves stranded in Bettles, Alaska. They are trying to join their husbands, who are hunting in the vicinity of Galbraith Lake, and they'll pay $1,000 each to get there. Our mission is to use our Cubs to take them to Galbraith Lake, PABG, a straight-line distance of 105 nautical miles.

It's up to you whether you go with standard gear, tundra tires, skis or floats (there's a lake two miles southeast of Bettles Airport and a river to the north, but they're probably frozen), and you get to choose your route, bearing in mind the weather conditions and terrain.

Meet at: 1830z for a 1900z departure.

Meet on: Digital Theme Park on JoinFS.

Comms through A2A Discord channel.

Start at: Bettles, Alaska, PABT.

Local takeoff time: 1100.

Weather: Historical for Monday, February 21, 2022. The weather is designed to be part of the challenge. If it becomes unflyable, feel free to land anywhere you can and "wait it out", that is, advance the sim time as necessary.

Note: I made a small adjustment to my Cubs' aircraft.cfg files after reading this discussion: viewtopic.php?f=65&t=73057. It might help. Or it might just get you to the accident site a little faster.

Bearing in mind the lovey historic weather selected for the flight for those that are inteserested here is my planned route for Sunday. Max altitude using this route is 4000 feet.
