Sunday 6th February - Turkish Delight

Post by ianfisher 101 »

This week we're in Turkey on a sight seeing flight from Antalya in the South up to Istanbul in the North. So open some Turkish delight and brew some turkish tea while we sore along above the counrtyside. So first things first. Turkish delight or lokum is a family of confections based on a gel of starch and sugar. Premium varieties consist largely of chopped dates, pistachios, hazelnuts or walnuts bound by the gel; traditional varieties are often flavored with rosewater, mastic gum, bergamot orange, or lemon. The confection is often packaged and eaten in small cubes dusted with icing sugar, copra, or powdered cream of tartar to prevent clinging. Other common flavors include cinnamon and mint. In the production process, soapwort may be used as an emulsifying additive. The origin of Turkish delight is not precisely known, but the confection is known to have been produced in Turkey and Iran as early as the late 18th century.

Tea is a popular drink throughout Turkey and has the highest per capita tea consumption in the world with an annual total consumption of close to 7 pounds per person. Turkey is a large exporter of tea, ranking fifth among the top exporting countries. Tea plays a big role in social gatherings that take place in tea houses and gardens. It also is used as herbal medicine. Turkish tea culture extends to Northern Cyprus and some countries in the Balkan Peninsula. Turkish tea has a long and expansive history that has shaped its harvesting even before the founding of the modern Turkish Republic. Since its introduction to Turkey, tea has become a large part of Turkish culture.

So there you have it, you're now armed with all the knowledge you need for the flight. Not much to say about the actual flying bit, start in the South by the Med then fly North till you hit the Black Sea, thats about it.

If LTFM does not appear in your Sim, as it is a new airport, a version can be found here.

Turkish Virtual Airlines website.

There are versions for FS2004, FSX and FSX:SE, Lockheed Martins' Prepar3D v4.5, XPlane 10 & 11 plus also for MFS2020

I tried the Turkish Virtual freeware LTFM, and it works fine. I managed to get it installed without messing up and posted a couple screenshots on the Discord A2A MP section.

Here are some Youtube links to some 'mood music' while you pre-flight your aircraft or just flying along.
I created a playlist which hopefully will appear when you select the 1st video.
If it goes astray just come back to this page and select the next one .
