Sunday, August 29 MP Flight - Visit Iran!

Special dispensation has been received from the Islamic Republic of Iran for a Misfit Squadron tour of the southern portion of their country. We fly from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to the military field at Khasab, in Oman. From there, a quick hop northwards takes us to our point of entry at Gheshm Island. We fly to the southern edge of the Hormod Protected Area in the Zagros Mountains, then follow a generally westward course back to the coast and on to a landing at Khark Island. Warbirds for this one as it's almost 500 miles.

Revised Flight Plan:

Our journey begins in Armenia, at Yerevan/Zvartnots, UDYZ. After a quick side trip to Mount Ararat, we climb and follow the airways into Iran and check in at Rasht/Sardar-E-Jangal Airport, OIGG. From there we fly south down the valley of the Sefid-rud River, then follow the Alborz Mountains eastward to Tehran. Bring a warbird. The trip is 490 miles. If you're in a Spit, it's 320 nm to our first landing at Rasht.
