Sunday july 4th, nature and liquor Dutch style

Post by Tobus75 »

Next sunday we fly from EHMZ MIdden-Zeeland to EHAL Ameland, one of the Dutch Wadden Isles.
Goal is to have a nice flight and to pick up some bottles of Nobeltje, a drink exclusively and illegally made on Ameland Island for about 80 years untill those pesky govt types shut them down.
https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobeltje . Their legal now though, but that's not the point.

We take off from EHMZ, do normal pattern depending on actual wind.

We then head for the Biesbosch nature reserve, which forms the boundary between 2 provinces, is basically a swamp forest and where the rivers Waal and Maas join up.
From there we head over to EHHO Hoogeveen airport, straight over the heart of Holland, containing the Veluwe nature reserve. We take a little break / catch up at EHHO.

After our little break we head north. We have to stay clear of the Leeuwarden Air Force Base and the Groningen airport airspaces. So we can go in between by crossing over EHDR Drachten, a small ultralight strip.
We then head north, over the Wadden Sea (which falls mostly dry at low tide) to turn into EHAL for some nice r&r and our bottles of Nobeltje from the shop in Ballum, the village just south of the field.

Let's try to stay within normal figures and procedures.
Cruise altitude will be between 1000 and 1500ft.
We'll be in Cherokee or C172 preferrably, anything other that can maintain a max speed of 110kts is also ok.
