Guys: I'm looking at my copy of Ernest K. Gann's Fate is the Hunter. I first read that book when I was a mere lad. I read it again around 2008 and it inspired me to join up with and fly for DC-3 Airways http://dc3airways.net/join_us/join2.htm, where now I've got over 1,000 hours. One part of the book that really impressed me was Gann's early flights on Air Mail Route 21, abbreviated as AM21. More information can be found here: http://www.dc3airways.com/flights/routes/am21.htm. I propose that next Sunday we fly our Bonanzas, or aircraft of similar performance, on the first three segments of Westbound AM21. Sort of a commemorative flight. The entire route has six segments, but that would take too long; maybe we can fly segments four through six on a future flight.
Here is the mission profile:
Meet: 1745 Zulu. Takeoff: 1815 Zulu
Sim time for meet : 1045 EDT. Sim time for takeoff: 1115 EDT
Aircraft : Fast GA, such as Bonanza, Comanche, MJ C-47, etc.
Weather : Real
Network : Joinfs
Server : Digital Themepark
Comms : A2A Discord MP Channel

This route is over scenery that is neither boring nor dramatic, but the weather might provide us with some entertainment. Here is a screenshot of the route:
As you can see, we takeoff from Newark (KEWR) and head generally northwest to Wilkes-Barr (KAVP), where we do a touch and go. Next we head north up to Syracuse, for another touch and go. Finally we head west to Rochester (KROC). The flight is 261 miles, and should take under two hours. Hey, you don't have to take the kids to any soccer matches, right?
So get out your old copy of Fate is the Hunter and read a couple chapters. Then let's fly next Sunday!
