A fighter escort could bring interesting navigation challenges: start from a different airport and knowing the bombers' flight plan, compute an interception path and vertical profile to join (no cheat - GPS, moving map... - of course!).
This could help also with the little friends with limited range, just join the flight around the middle of the session! That way you would have enough fuel for a normal flight and would not have to fly manually on an extended flight time.

Just a few more cents :P

By the way our next flight over the Philippines should be ready tomorrow. So if anyone is interested in the challenge (or to join the B-17 formation of course), just send me an e-mail at [email protected] . If I remember well all the pilots of our last session also own the Accu-sim P-47 so it would certainly be a good candidate for a fighter escort. Of course the upcoming P-51 and Spit are very likely to be on the shopping list too!

Happy flying,
David

I've got the P-47 too - I wouldn't mind flying escort either! But that formation of seven bombers last time was LEKKER...

It's Thanksgiving time here and I won't be here for the flight this Saturday but definitely count me in for next Saturday.

I'll be getting the P47 before Saturday so I can join as an escort pilot.

Just wanted to let the potential escort pilots know that they're not gonna be alone ;-)

I think it would really be great if there were min. 3 P47s there with the B17s, that should look awesome =D

Hi Stefan

(just in case you're not the same Stefan I just sent an e-mail too  )
Beware that in multiplayer, all pilots joining need to have all the models in use in the session on their machine (including the specific liveries). Otherwise the missing ones are replaced by default planes.
Another good reason to support A2A :D

Best regards,
David

Flight of the week RPLC - RPMR, the Philippines islands from North to South

Map (from PlanG v2.0)

Unfortunately I got a CTD 20' before the landing (first in 19 flights) so no nice screenshots for the debriefing today :(

You definitely can fly a SID with a stopwatch, the compass and the ADF in the B-17! (KIB2D from 20L at RPMR):
climbing downwind on 022° before turning left again to South on 219°...

G'day all, Just learned about this multi-player B17 idea, sounds excellent, with a couple of P47s thrown in too!
Will you be hosting another session this Sunday?
Also can you tell me a bit about how you plot your route and plan the flight, do you have maps and such?

Thanks
John
