Not paying attention to update specs.

Post by olderndirt »

Downloaded and installed the Spitfire updater failing to note the 'ACCUSIM' part. My version is not Accusim and now causes an FSX fatal error trying to load. Is there a way to uninstall this update?

Hello

you can un-install the Spitfire and then manually remove any remaining files. If you need help knowing where these might be let us know,

thanks,

Forgot to mention, I also have your B17 (non accusim). After I uninstall the Spitfire, what files should I leave in place so as not to jeopardize the B17?

Hello,

do you have any Accu-sim products installed? Need to know so I can advise what to delete and what not too.

thanks,

Hello,

First uninstall the Spitfire as normal, using windows control panel.

Then clean up any files/folders that might have been left over from the mistaken update. Some places to look;

-Microsoft Flight Simulator X\A2A\Spitfire

-Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Gauges\accusim

-Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Gauges\accusim_xml

-Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\WoP3_Spitfire

-Documents\A2A\FSX\Spitfire

thanks,
Lewis

Unfortunately still corrupted. Removed all you mentioned and anything suspect - there is a shared folder covering 'service installer (.dll/.exe/.exedebug) in FSX/A2A but it was installed with the Spitfire download today. Interestingly enough my B17 was also exposed to the same updater but apparently survived unscathed. FWIW I downloaded a pristine copy of the Spitfire folder from your site - should have nothing Accusim but it's the same. Also of note - attempting to load the Spitfire also takes out my EZDOK camera program.
9/27/14 And now the good news. Found the site http://www.tweaking.com ran their repair program and all's well. Don't know the problem but it's gone.
