Left and right Magnetos using fsuipc

Post by Tutmeister »

Hi all

I'm a bit stuck and was wondering if anyone out there has solved this....

I have 2 Saitek quadrants, one on either side of the cockpit so I have throttle, mixture and rpm on my left and on the other side I have one lever set for undercarriage, one for radiator flap and the other I'm using for flaps. There are 3 2-way switches on each quadrant so on the right hand side I have one switch for Generator and the other two I have to switching on the two fuel cocks - up for on, down for off.

The problem I have is I want to use the switches on my left hand quadrant to switch the 2 magnetos on and off. I can set them using fsuipc and lua to switch the magnetos on or off but they are a toggle so if you press up again it will switch off. Also if you press down it switches off but then press down again and it switches back on.

I'm really stuck here as I have it working correctly for the generator and fuel cocks i.e. it doesn't matter how many times you press the switch up, it will only switch it on.

It seems like you can only have the magnetos as a toggle no matter what you do. Can anyone help clarify this please?

Hello Chris,

Ill see if there any suggestions from the guys.

However you haven't mentioned the A2A Config app, have you mapped through the included software?

thanks,
Lewis

Hi Lewis

Yes I tried using the configurator but that only allows you to assign one button to each magneto so it works as a toggle. What I want to do is use a 2 position switch for on and off like I can do for the generator or fuel cocks.

The fact that I can't seem to do this with either the A2A tool or fsuipc makes me question if this is possible at all.

I'll check my setup when I get home on Tuesday. I know I have the mags assigned
to switches.

EDIT: I just took a look at the FSX files I have here on my traveling netbook
and found the Spitfire FSUIPC assignments for the mags.

I am using the standard FSX control "MAGNETO1 SET 66400"
Here is my FSUIPC4.ini assignments for the mags using 4
switches on one of my dual Saitek quads:

2=PD,14,C66400,0 ;//Magneto - OFF
3=PD,15,C66400,2 ;//Magneto - Left
4=PD,16,C66400,3 ;//Magneto - Both
5=PD,17,C66400,1 ;//Magneto - Right

My FSUIPC MCRO file contains this line:

30=L:Eng1_StartingMagneto=SET

Hi Paul
Thanks for the help, unfortunately I have been away since so haven't been able to try it. Just got back and am off to Duxford for the weekend and I'm away again next week but hopefully I can find time to try it.

I didn't want you thinking I was ignoring your help.

NP Chris. Enjoy Duxford!

I'll be 'away' again when you return but I always check the forums daily so 'report' your results
when you can.
