Spitfire starting problem

Post by Daddy Bear »

Well after some deliberation I decided to buy the Spitfire. I wasn't going to buy accusim for it until the end of the month but then I found that I needed it if I wanted to change my propeller. I wasn't altogether happy about that if I am honest. After all, the Mk11 Spit was on offer and how many of them came standard with a two bladed fixed pitch prop?

Never mind, I went and got accusim and I have a very strange problem.

I had a few hiccups and ended up bosting the prop on the MK11B. So I went and replaced it and it won't start. At all. Not even an auto start will get her fired up but this is the strange thing. It is only the MKIIB. All of the others seem to start up okay but I cannot find anything wrong with the MKIIB. The crew chief notes say that it is like new and there are currently zero hours on the engine.

Am I going to have to purge the .dat file again?

Cheers

Did you try a complete overhaul from the hangar?

If you can't even auto-start, the .dat might be the problem.

I thought it might be I just wanted expert advice before I tried it. As soon as I get a spare moment I will give it a try.

Hello Phil,

try the dat file in case it is corrupt.

Regarding the props, accu-sim is required for changing the props on the fly but the different props are still available as standard on the non accu-sim relaxed realism version.

thanks

Thanks Lewis, purging the dat file seems to have done the trick. The problem I found was that I loaded up the MKIIB and it had the Weybridge fitted to it which confused me no end. Not to worry I was going to get Accu-sim for it anyway, just not yet it's in now so no bother.

Cheers

Hello to all,
I'm a newbie here and I have just downloaded the Spit Mk I/II and am having the same no-start problem with all of them, including auto start. I have not yet added Accusim. I have tried the suggestions but no joy yet. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the fact that I am running FSX off an external hard drive, although this has not been a problem with any of my other aircraft.
Any suggestions you might have would be appreciated.
Cheers.

ahh.... just noticed the other thread - 'unable to start engine' - I'll poke around in there for a while since it is the identical situation.
