[Lewised] Spitfire Input Configurator

Post by john99vette »

I used the configurator to map some joystick functions and when I went to save and update FSX I get an error: "Can't save configuration. Please verify that the path to FSX is correct and Spitfire is properly installed" Where to I go from here? :?

Worked for me. Do you have FSX in \Program Files (not a great idea). Might be a permissions problem.

I have it in C:\FSX and run it as admin. No problems saving.

Yes make sure you run as admin, this is a permissions error you are encountering in windows.

Yes and to add make sure you also have INSTALLED it with admin rights. It is very helpful in that resepct to NOT doubleclick the installer(s) but instead start it with right click "open as administator". In fact it should not be different to running everything as admin but my experience has shown that also for other add-ons there WAS actually a different behaviour. Only using the right-click method proved a faultless installation. Maybe one of the unexplained secrets of Vista/Win7...

Ok I heard about the admin right problem early on with Win 7. I lowered my account control to the min. But that's not the issure here? :!: How do I install as an adminstrator? I have FSX in C:\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X due to the program file issues with Win 7.

I guess if I would read all of the posts I'd answer my own question. Right click on file and use adminstrator. So do I delete the Spitfire and Accumsim files first? Or overwrite as admin? :?

Ok. I need help here. I deleted the existing Spitfire and Accusim. I went to the download file, which is a zip file, right clicked on it and don't see "open as administrator" listed. So I open the zip file with left click. Right click on .exe file doesn't give me the admin option either. Does having the account control at the minimum have a bearing on this :?:

Scott,
I checked the user account on my computer and I have an administrators account. I just increased my account control to the default. I don't think this has anything to do with my problem though. If my user account is an administrator account I should have installed everything as an administrator? If that's the case I shouldn't have a permissions error? Also do I have to have FSX open for the configurator to access it when I go to save and update FSX? :?

Thanks for the help

There are levels of admin, admin account is not top level administrator unless you have gone in depth and changed your windows permissions which I can tell you havent.

Open the zip up (a zip is NOT a folder but a compressed file) and remove the files to a folder on your pc.

Then right click and select open as admin etc.

I'm just working through some problems myself but I have learned.......

You don't just 'Open' the zip file you extract it to a folder then run the installer (as Admin if you can).

Mine is installed under \Program Files (x86)\ (I have Win7 64bit)

Check that the A2A folder it creates under the FSX folder (or under My Documents if you installed the Accusim) and make sure they are not Read Only.

Spot on Mega! Its a trick worth remembering as its not just fs addons the admin thing applys to but can pretty much be everything. Esp wrth noting when doing things like spyware scans etc, always run your anti-virus/spyware scans as admin otherwise the system may not be able to scan properly, update properly + if anything is found correctly delete/repair anything thats infected.

Ps, its Lewis not Scott, Scott's busy probably plowing his drive of snow again hehe.
