Cannot fly the Cub

Post by big-mike »

Hi guys,
bought the Cub some days before.
Installation went fine,i can select her, engine runs and when i move the Throttle a bit,she stands on the Prop.
I can make an overhaul, but this changes nothing--she stands on the Prop again.
P3D v4.5 is installed,Client and Content are 4.5.13.32097.
I miss the message "Enable Addon...."when i start P3D.
Older versions are uninstalled befor installing the new Cub.

Hello Mike,

can you please expand on the old cub comment, as mentioned we dont have an old P3D Cub product, so I want to clear this one up before troubleshooting.

For the brakes, have you checked you don't have tie downs etc on also?

Also can you let us know a little more about your system and hardware please, in particular what controllers you are using and how they are configured?

thanks,
Lewis

After the install of the Cub,i installed a fresh copy of Accufeel.
This time i was asked to "Enable Addon......" and Accufeel works fine.
The Cub didn`t asked for "Enable Addon.....".
I see here, that a few other users had also problems to get the Cub work.
Maybe you at A2A should have a look at the installer for the Cub.
I will definetely not install a completely new copy of P3D only for a working Cub.
I have no more time today----thank you,Lewis.

I got in a situation where I couldn't get the Cub to move even with tie downs and parking brakes off. I reloaded the Cub into the same situation and everything worked. Select aircraft -> Cub.

Hope this helps.

Hi Mike,

The fact that you weren't required to manually enable the Cub after installation doesn't indicate a problem: the installer will do this for you automatically.

In your case, you mention trying to use the 32-bit FSX version of the Cub in 64-bit P3Dv4 so I recommend you make sure all generated files have been removed. This includes deleting any files in "Documents\A2A\FSX\PiperJ3".

To help us assist with troubleshooting, please can you also let us know which installation directory you used for the P3Dv4 version of the Cub.

Please can you have a try with the float plane variant too and let us know how you get on? This should eliminate any issue with brakes being triggered via a key conflict etc.

Thanks,
Nick

Unfortunately this doesn`t work, but thanks for trying to help.

i deleted this.

Directory is:C:\Users\micha\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\A2A_PiperJ3
Accufeel is also in this folder.
I tried the Floatplane, but it crashes also.

This is an unusual choice of installation location in a hidden system folder. Did you manually select this directory when installing either the J-3 or any previous Accu-Sim aircraft which you own?

The default installation for Prepar3D v4 is simply the "Prepar3D v4 Add-ons" directory in your Windows "Documents" folder. In your case this would most likely be "C:\Users\micha\Documents\Prepar3D v4 Add-ons".

As you mention FSUIPC, it's also worth loading the aircraft with FSUIPC disabled just to rule out an issue such as a control conflict. To do this, you can just place a new folder in the "Modules" directory and temporarily move the FSUIPC5.dll into this folder.

Thanks,

Hi Nick,
i didn`t selected this folder.
It was the folder, the installer pointed me to..
I deleted the content of this folder, rebooted the PC,dl a fresh copy of the Cub and i was directed again to this folder.
No chance to selct another folder in the installer of the Cub.
I will try tomorrw your suggestion with FSUIPC.
Thank you Nick.

Okay, thanks Mike.

The installer checks Prepar3D's two add-ons.cfg files for existing Accu-Sim add-ons.

In your case, it sounds like one of these files has been written to. If the J-3 is your first Accu-Sim add-on for P3D, I'm just wondering if this is when you tried to install the FSX Cub into P3D. Did you use any third-party migration tools to do this, or did you simply run the FSX installer and point it to the P3D directory?

In any case, to get round this issue, you can delete the folder "C:\Users\micha\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\SimObjects\A2A_PiperJ3" which the installer specifies and then launch P3D once to allow it to refresh its add-ons.cfg files. After doing this, simply run the installer again and it should default to the "Prepar3D v4 Add-ons" directory in "Documents".

If you wish, you can also manually check the two add-ons.cfg files in question for existing references to A2A aircraft by opening them with a text editor such as notepad. They can be found in the locations specified below.

C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Add-ons.cfg
C:\Users\micha\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Add-ons.cfg

Hi Nick,

This worked, the installer showed the right Path.
But the problem is indeed FSUIPC.
I followed your suggestion and she flies with FSUIPC disabled.
Now is the question, how to fix this?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for testing that. If the issue only happens when FSUIPC is loaded, and because you mention that the Cub "stand on the prop", it sounds like the issue may be caused by a spoiler command being triggered via FSUIPC. This can be either via a physical axis, or just an entry in the FSUIPC5.ini which refers to one. Please check out this thread for further information; the fix is basically to make sure any spoiler assignments which you've set using FSUIPC aren't being triggered.

Best regards,
Nick
