Models/Paints interchangeable?

Post by Private-Cowboy »

Hi,

I'd love to know if the paints of the various Cub models can be used for other models. I know that it would not work with floaters when there's a missing float texture. In my case I'd love to use the RAF paint for the ski Cub. Since I don't fly in Switzerland and love to have a Cub for the Tongass winter I thought that this might work. The amount of textures (including names) are the same so there shouldn't be anything missing if I "refit" the Cub with skis would it?

Best regards

Try looking at as if you adding re-paint.
Make a copy of the RAF texture folder and drag it into the ski folder.
"A2A_PiperJ3_s" Then rename the RAF folder to something "texture.rafski"
Remember to back up any config "Before you modify it!"
Then...
"fltsim.XX" is the next number open.

[fltsim.XX]
title=A2A Piper Cub Ski
sim=PiperJ3s
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=rafski
kb_checklists=
kb_reference=
atc_id=NC-38790
atc_id_color=
ui_manufacturer="A2A Piper"
ui_type="J-3 Cub w/skis"
ui_variation="RAF w_skis"
ui_typerole="Single Engine Prop"
ui_createdby="A2A Simulations Inc."

Did that and it seems to work. Thank you. I was just wondering if that may result in missing textures. But since everything external is put into a sigle 4096 texture sheet it doesn't look like it. Only the floaters have extra textures for the floats. But the RAFski was all I wanted. Tongass glaciers, here I come ...
