Hello ladies and gents, its 30th Jan 2009 and we are very nearly there. We are very happy with how this one has turned out and naturally with Accu-sim it is a joy to fly warbirds and the real challenge is to do what the brave lads once did,..
can you take off from cold Suffolk, reach altitude and then fly for 8 hours in the freezing cold up high over Europe and make it bad with a good engine?
can you fly for long hours in the heat of Burma or the Pacific?
Just a couple of examples that Ive had fun with during Beta testing.
Anyway on with the screenshots and as the cricket players would say, "Awwwwwwwwwzzz that!?"
For a taste here is the pilots manual and accu-sim manual;

Re: Screenshots and Manuals
If you think that's impressive, look how far we have come with flight sims. I went back and looked up some screenshots from Microsoft's Combat Flight Simulator which came out in 1998. It was the first WW2 sim I ever owned. I was 11 years old and this was the first P-47 I had ever seen anywhere:levkovvvv wrote:Now, i am a tough guy to impress, and i am truly and utterly impressed. I know what you mean!
I started out with the first flight sims...wire-frame graphics and zero detail.

Re: Screenshots and Manuals
I remember seeing Bruce Artwick's first flight simulator on a green screen monochrome monitor on my uncles Apple II+ back on Christmas Eve 1980 I think. He was a high school teacher and Apple II's were used in the schools back then.
Mountains were triangles.Yeah wireframe graphics and it was crude but cool at the time.
It later became the Microsoft Flight Simulator series.
We have come a long ways indeed.Sometimes I enjoy playing the older versions on older systems that I still keep.
Here is a nice link in case you guys haven't been there.

I am really looking forward to this new WOP III series.A quantum leap above what you had before because of accu-sim.Wonderful pics of the P-47 razorback too.I won't be able to get this though until March when I have some extra cash left over.

Just out of curiousity with something bombgroup said...any idea on how big of a hole the Thunderbolt is going to dig in my bank account?

Re: Screenshots and Manuals
I'm afraid to guess...my wife is a flight-sim widow as is. If they keep getting better, she could divorce me and I'd never know it!

Re: Screenshots and Manuals
My first WWII air sim, and the one that got me hooked. I was big into armor and infantry prior to Jane's WWII Fighters and to be honest at that time I could probably only identify three or maybe four warbirds if pressed. The Thunderbolt was not one of the few planes I knew.svaughn01 wrote:How about Janes WW2 Fighters? Anyone ever play that one?
Jane's WWII Fighters was my gateway into WWII aviation and subsequently into Microsoft Flight Simulator. Initially I didn't really enjoy flying the planes -- too much to know, LOL! -- so I spent hours building ground battles and watching them unfold. When the novelty of that wore off, I began attacking the vehicles myself with the game's flyable aircraft. The Thunderbolt was perfect for that, obviously: rugged, stable, and a lot of firepower. Thus started my love for the 'Jug.'
Here's a little something I made in Jane's WWII Fighters a few years ago:
You probably recognize the artwork that inspired my screenshot.
