401st Bombardment Group Heavy

Post by 46th_Terror »

I have been asked to attend the by annual reunion of the 401st BG Heavy this year. I was asked to bring my computer so I can demonstrate my repaints of the WOP B-17 for them and the airfield I made. Thay want to let the vets have the oppertunity to fly the B-17 around their base in FS2004. This is about the coolest thing I have ever been asked to do. :):):):)

Congratulations Robert! Nashville eh? Need any Help?

Glad to hear it. I still think we need more 401st repaints though. A couple of F models would be great!

I have been thru all their pictures. That is where I got the ones I already used. Unfortunately just about all their noseart pictures cant be used for repainting for one reason or another. mainely the pics are not in color or are from a bad angle. :(

46th_Terror I looked through my B-17 books and couldn't find any color pics of a 401st B.G. B-17 however there were a lot of color pics of B-17 nose art from other B.G.'s.
I made a post at armyairforces.com asking anyone if they have a color pic
of the nose art on a 401st B.G. B-17 so possibly there might be a response.Well I'm looking for you.
Look at the 401st B.G.'s forums you might want to ask for nose art there.
I saw a few posts about books with nose art.

I did find one color picture of the Mary Alice of the 401st B.G.

It is however at an angle.

I found a better color picture of the Mary Alice.
Much Better.

http://www.airwar.org.uk/ukmeet1997/photos/dux17nse.gif

She is on display at the American Air Museum at Duxford with the markings of Mary Alice of the 401st

I was looking at the quicktime panoramic views of her too on that website.
It looks like the name Mary Alice was just painted on one side(the pilots side).

Well I got good news and bad news guys. the bad news is I have looked into the 401st reunion and I am just not going to be able to make it. :( But the good news is It got me to do a few more 401st b-17 repaints :). I think I am going to trya nd do a few more before I release it. I have also redone the original set using my current repaint template.
