Belly Landing - how to ?

Post by Wehner »

When I try this, the sim halts, I get a "crash detection" message, and cannot watch the sparks and debbries going off. I do not know which settings to change. I have the visual damage activated in the aircragt.cfg, though.

Any hints ?

Michael.
Nobody criticized the pilot for making that slow roll. American fighter pilots are supposed to have enough steam in their breeches to try something out of the book once in a while. The fact that he didn't make it was his own business.

What is your airspeed when you touch down? You may be going too fast when you hit.

You definately have to ease here in to avoid the crash. Make sure you are at full flaps and set her down as easy as possible.

oh, ok, if that's the point - so fs9 determines a point where the plane crashes, and before, you can damage it and see the debries etc. ?
Well, I thought I'd be gentle enough on touchdown

Thank you both,

Michael.

Belly Landings

Michael,

I took these two screen shots of me doing a belly landing with a P-51.
In FS2004, Settings, Realism, I had Ignore Crashes and Damage
"checked". I also landed with a rate of sink between 200-300fpm.

Keep the shinny side up and the dirty side down!

Cliff, you had checked to ignore the crashes ?
This would make sense, because otherwise on my system fs9 resets even on minor damages.
Thank you very much ! I already gave up on that thread here ...
