Powerpack sound question (FSX)

Post by pjmac35 »

Have just installed Aircraft Powerpack. Jets and Lancasters' engine sounds are OK but none of the US bombers engine sounds work. The WAV files are there and play individually. Flap sounds work but NOT engines. FS9 installation all OK as well.

Is this a known problem?

I seem to remember a long time ago a user reporting an issue like this, and it also happened on other aircaft with complex engine sounds as well. This user had a Turtle Beach sound card as well, and as I recall, this issue was with the card and FSX and was never resolved by either party.

The fix was to alias the DC-3 sounds by doing this:

Open the SOUND folder, and backup your sound.cfg file.
Open your sound.cfg file with NOTEPAD, and replace the text with this:

[fltsim]
alias=Douglas_DC3\sound

Thanks for taking the time. Yes, that does work but doesn't sound quite right, but better than silence! Just wondering why it only works with DC-3 sound? I tried a few more, but no luck.

You can alias any aircraft sound this way. The DC-3 sounds are the closest, but yes I agree, they don't sound like a B-17.

Hello,

Powerpack is only compatible with the early FSX versions prior to MS Updates to FSX SP1 and 2. The 50 missions are for FS2004.

thanks,
