BOB II Windows 7

Post by Windjammer »

As a newbie I'm not sure that I'm in the right place for this question, so if I'm wrong perhaps someone could let me know.

I would like to use Windows 7 with BOB II but don't know if the operating software is compatible with this flight sumulation.
I'd be grateful if anybody with experience of this setup could give me some advice on this question.

Thanks.

Also of course for any game under windows I would defrag the harddrive before I install it.

We have players running Windows7 and at leasy one Beta tester. They do not have any serious issues.

Many thanks to all.

This may sound stupid to you experts but if I download the latest patch which I believe is V2.10 will this cover all previous patches or should I download them all as well in numerical order ?
p.s. You will gather that I'm a total novice.

No problem we always wecome new players as well as old players to BOBII.

Be sure and read the Novice thread for some tips/advice here:

http://a2asimulations.com/forum/viewtop ... 48&t=11406

You only need the one 2.10 Update (no other patches required as 2.10 includes all past updates and changes) which is applied to you new BOBII install. The 2.10 Multi Skin update (historicly accurate markings on the BOBII A/C) is optional but recommended if your PC has the processor power and video card memory (greater the 250MB).

Many thanks Buddye. Looking forward to BOB II now. Particularly as I saw the first German air raid on the old Croydon airport and watched many subsequent dog fights from the ground as a twelve year old.
Thanks again.

Hi windjammer,

I have been using bob II with windows 7 for just over a year with no problems at all. All you will have to do, once you have loaded bob II on. Is to go into compatibility mode and check the "disable desktop composition" and if you haven't switched "user access mode" off. You will then need to check the "run this program as administrator".

There is quite a learning curve, so don't forget to read the Manual, under the docs folder. There is also a printable Manual for the A4 or letter size papers under the A4/letter heading.

Do enjoy.

I'd like to chime in and point out that I run Win 7 x64 Ultimate and am using aero effects, and I have not had to enable *any* compatibility mode options, with the exception that I run with UAC (User Account Control) disabled, so if you run with UAC on, which is the default, you'll still need the "run as administrator" option turned on. The other options, however, probably aren't necessary, unless perhaps you only have 256MB of video RAM.
