Different Reading on Compass, RMI, and Repeater?

Post by BairStrokes »

Hi, I'm just curious about how HSI in B377 works

Right now I'm on enroute from Haneda (RJTT) to Naha (ROAH) and flying direct from KEC to TGE VOR. I have 3 different readings:
Magnetic Compass: 247°
Compass repeater: 238°
RMI: 256°

I know a little bit about magnetic variation. But from those three readings, which one should I add/reduce to get true north?

Thank you.

What you are seeing is gyroscopic drift. D key aligns to the mag compass or adjust them yourself to match the compass.
You will need to check the drift every 15 minutes as it's usually about 3 degrees off by then.
