Hi.
Just bought another one of your great aircraft. Really good job.
The only thing that bothers me is that the wrong sound seems to come at the wrong place in spot view.
Compared to how your P-47, B337 and F4U sound, I started wondering if something might be wrong. To me it sounds like the front and back are getting the side-sounds, while the left wing gets the rear sound and the right wing gets the nose sound. If that makes any sense.
Am I completely crazy or is that something you've heard about before?
I could make a short video to show what I mean if needed.
Thanks for your time and help.
Morten
P-40 sound
Re: P-40 sound
It's good that you bring this up, as I am having difficulties too.
In my case, looking at the aircraft from the left, I always have full throttle sounds, no matter what the real throttle setting is. Does anybody have any ideas what might cause this?

Re: P-40 sound
I thought that for some reason the live record was louder in one side that the other, but what you say makes a lot of sense! I think you are right. May it be a common error or something specific to our systems? As it seems difficult to overlook something like that during development. Or maybe they overlooked it but can easily get fixed editing some file.Gomslork wrote:Hi.

I think I don't have that other problem, jcblom.
My little poor p40, I wonder when it will be acusimed. I have almost forget about it due to the B337 and the P-47.

Re: P-40 sound
I had the sound problems you're mentioning with the P40 when I used the onboard sound in my system (i.e. the sound processor that's part of the motherboard). I also had problems with the Alphasim B-24 but followed the advice here:
http://www.turbinesoundstudios.com/page.php?15
which helped the B-24 but I don't remember if it helped the P40. When added a Creative sound card to my system and disabled the onboard sound, the P40 problems went away for sure and most of my other aircraft sounds were much nicer too.

Re: P-40 sound
Hi all,
I'm having the same problem and the posted link didn't work for me, possibly because my sound setup is different.
I have the Creative X-fi Elite Pro.
Any help?
Thanks,
Ben

Tried the 50% system volume thing, doesn't work.
I get the loudest sound when view the aircraft from the left side. If I shut down and then restart the engine, this switches to the right.

Re: P-40 sound
Well, I am sorry for this, it seems there is a bug in the sound.cfg file.
Drop this file into your SimObjects/Wop2_P40B_AVG/sound folder:

Re: P-40 sound
bhollinsworth,
Just to clarify, are you speaking of the issue where one side was louder than the other? Have you tried throttling all the way up, then down to trigger all the sounds? Sometimes FSX has an issue recalling the right sound when you start in flight.

I am talking about that. The sound.cfg didn't help, and if you throttle up and down, it stops, but if you change views, and go back to external view, it is once more louder..Scott - A2A wrote:bhollinsworth,

Re: P-40 sound
ok, will watch this topic.
Re: P-40 sound
In the original sound.cfg there seems to be omissions to combustion sound files that are in the sound folder. Also there seems to be some sound files missing for example the xwop_p40_rpm4_front.wav file etc.

Re: P-40 sound
Any idea when you'll be able to fix this one?
